Was just looking at our 2007 list and was wondering if we had a player go on the long term injury list do you elevate a rookie who is similar in playing style or do you go for the next best regardless of position? coz when you look at the list, if we lost a KPP we have players on our list who aren't in the current 22 who can fill that roll, same with mids. so if it came to elevating someone what do you do and who would it be?

Not Benet Copping.

I think the club would elevate a rookie if someone was burning it up in the WAFL - kind of as a reward. I think they did that with Dylan Smith IIRC a couple of years ago, even though he didn't play for a number of weeks after elevation.

Of course, if a rookie is upgraded they have to be paid as a first year player, and their salary increases. So unless they want to play the guy, then there's little point in upgrading, and paying a rookie extra if none of the rookies are likely to get a game.

I don't know enough about Chris Smith's AFL readiness, but you'd think eithe Rumble or Foster (2nd behind Woewoedin in EF's B&F this year), who are both 21, would be ready to go if required.

Just not Benet Copping. He needs another couple of years develepment one would think - and especially since he's just been dropped back to the rookie list from the Main List. Unless he does a Crowley... which while it may be possible, does not seem likely.

Sorrry ripper but it has passed robbie by. Just a depth player.

I don't necessarily agree with that. Robbie's best is very, very good.
I will reserve judgement until he gets fit. If he doesnt get fit then there is no judgement to be made.
