Locks. Give a brief reason:

Jack - Rolled his ankle last year after a back half breakout in 2010 (avg. 150 over the last 4 rounds). Lost fitness and rounded out 2011 with a SC avg 80. I have him targeted between 90-110.

Close, but not quite (yet) list:

Goodes - he's a mid season uplift target for mine.
Walsh - poor show the other night makes me think they may not start him now. Hoping he gets another chance, but just outside for me.
Lockyer - wait and see if he gets selected for the first round.

Mine are pretty obvious
G Ablett - i think everyone knows why
B Goddard - will have a great year imo, a new coach and playing style will really help his game
J Selwood - one of the cheaper super premiums and will comfortably finish in top 6 midfielders imo
J McDonald - looking great, will play a lot at the start of the season
Giles and Big O - will play a lot and most likely as the #1 ruckmen, the best rookie options imo

Not sure why everyone is tipping the Dogs to fall this year. You guys will kick arse with all those new recruits. ;)

Lock
Orren Stephenson - can't think of a good reason why you wouldn't have him at his price, knowing the amount of games he will play.

that's about it.

Selwood, Enright, Christensen and some of our rookies will be popular but not locks.

with the departure of harbrow and injuries to lake and hargrave our backline isnt what it was 2years ago. Our ruck is not up to par with some of the other top teams and we're still looking for a solid forward option

missed the sarcasm :D the thread is about players from the team you support, not your supercoach team.

still, a good list you had for what you thought it was about :thumbsu:

Boyd - he's looking like he will pick up where he left off last year.

Possibles - Smith, Hargrave and Panos.

read in the paper the other day the new coach loves young smith the way he plays his footy good signs.

No-one!

I want Ziebell, think he can do 105ppg but not enough for midfield.

Sam Gibson also looking good. And there's always Liam Anthony who can score anything and Adams that is consistent. Bar Wells' injury I was expecting huge things (again)

Probably stock standard for a cats fan, but Stephenson and Selwood.

Christensen if your looking for a break out star has to be up there, and Enright and Chappy will always be in consideration.

No offence dude but shit I hope you're in my league.....

Franklin, obviously.

Also, Birchall I really believe will have a huge year. Last year we finally saw the improvement 2008 promised from him. Big year ahead.

Sam Mitchell would be a unique pick who will surely dominate, but not a lock, and probably not going to be in my starting list due to the likes of Ablett, Swan & Pendles. I don't really like picking players from my own team anyway - too many nerves already when watching a game

Pendles but i know so many are leaving him out because of his price.

Is he top 6 mid by the end of the year? Yes! :D

But then again he might drop $70k but he'll cost you a trade.

I think people are just banking on players like Swan or Ablett to match or better him this year.

Top 6 mid for sure, but number 1? Wait and see.

What is the problem? You just said top 6 for sure, so therefore he's a lock, in your team as well if you are agreeing. Not to mention his consistency, scored 200 odd points over any other player last year.

Not questioning it. Im just saying that alot of people will choose Swan or Ablett (either of which could be number 1 by years end) over him to save a little coin. Like you said people will hope Pendles will drop a bit in price and use him as an upgrade target mid year.

Fair call, although i do have Gablett as my perma cap anyway.
Pick up Swanny after the byes, when he goes for an Arizona refresher course.:p

Im one of those who took Swan over Pendles, so im hoping it doesn't take a trip to Arizona mid year to find his top form

I have Boyd & Howard in my team, wouldn't say we have any 'locks' though.

I think it's reasonable to call Boyd a lock. Howard no, shouldn't be in any ones team.

Bring it on :)

Although I'm sure you gave me a lesson last year.

:)

The only lock Sydney has is Goodes and maybe Mummy. ROK is under a question mark and personally, I don't think Tommy is going to be all that (SC wise). A midfielder that might score 105ppg is no lock. If I were to be tempted by a "break out" player, I'd be going Rohan or Armstrong.
