What do you reckon?

I think we really need Lynch to hold CHB down next year. In some scenarios we can maybe play Staker or Hunter at CHB and move Lynch forward, but I think if we're going to be a top 4 side, Lynch improving at CHB is one of the key things that needs to happen.

People have been talking up guys like Graham and Beeck, but these players are untried. Lynch needs to improve and play at CHB for the next 7-8 years.

Its a hard one. Im torn between Lynch and Hunter. Hunter isnt too small because we saw the success that Rivers had for the demons and he is no bigger than hunter. I think they will try Lynch again, but if it doesnt work will go with Hunter. Additionally, Gaspar if fit , but yeah thats another issue.
I think that Staker downt the track may be an option but im not convinced about this year. Perhaps in 1-2 years at least.

Love the way references to Gaspar are always qualified.

Henceforth I'm referring to him as Travis Gaspariffit

Mr Q Lynch.

Strong enough to match most CHF and great kicking ability to bomb it long and clear (see 2004 Round 3 Q4 vs Essendon). Can also play in the forward line if needed.

Yeah, well I though (foot) must have been some sort of obscure degree....

Nah, Iffit Gaspar would be an excellent choice, but otherwise we're really running Lynch/Hunter there for the forseeable future. Lynch was fairly effective there last year (at least early in the season), and it would seem unfair given he's still relatively young to be talking of scrapheaps yet as seems to be the case.

I like Lynch and although he can run in straight lines he lacks lateral agility. FB would be a good option for him. Our good run coincided to when Hunter was moved to CHB. The game against Essendon at Subi comes to mind, he was sensational. He is the same height as Croad, Kornes and Rivers. He needs to bulk up a bit but he is tall enough.

I think Lynch is the man. He has the size, and he has the ability. But does he have the brains???

I'd like to see Jaymie Graham given a go there and at FB this year, to help out with the Glass/Lynch combination.

Hunter is the perfect player to take on third talls such as Mark Stevens, Adam Goodes (when up forward), Tim Notting, Jason Saddington etc,.

i think alot depends on matchups. in the modern game there is rarely a set CHF FF and HFF. they all intermingle, switching afew times each quarter. the point im trying to make is that it doesnt matter who is named CHB. hunter will take the 'smaller' tall and lynch the 'bigger'. glass will take the guy who spends the most time deep. reading the eagles mag that came with the membership package. Woosh made mention of hunter saying he didnt really live up to the high expectation of him this year, to me it sounded like he rates hunter pretty highly. he also said that quinten's strength and pace were his assets. i was somewhat suprised at the mention of pace, but i do remember big Q was a good school boy runner. as already mentioned, his lateral agility is a problem. thinking back to his first game against the blues, the commentor made mention that he had the turning circle of the queen mary. although i supose if he was agile at that size then he would be in the riewoldt/ carey class. their agility is what set them apart esp carey as he was such a big man.

Lynch for me. I think the key to next year will be developing versatility. Lynch is capable of going forward and creating goals and as his confidence built he took a few more chances and created run from the backline, as did Glass. Lynch is very much a confidence player and I think the more faith he is shown the better he will become. You have to remember that Jakovich had the turning circle of the Queen Mary and was still one of the best CHBs in the land.

Hunter never got to full fitness until late in the season but he will always be the 3rd tall, but I would like to see him given a run in the forward line at times. I would also think that young Daniel McConnell will go a long way to holding down a KPP as he is not only heavier than Hunter but has greater endurance.

Don't agree with that. In his prime Jako was much more mobile than Lynch currently is. He was also much better below his knees.

You don't have to agree, but Carey constantly turned quicker than Jakovich and beat him to the ball.

I too think Lynch is the man not only because IMO he is the best option we've got but also because i think that in order to be a top line side you need to be able to intimidate your oposition and besides Lynch all our 'talls' are more lanky than tanky (Except maybe Glass).

Not only is that factually wrong but it has no relevance in comparing the skills of Glen Jakovich to Quentin Lynch

Whatever you reckon. You need to go back and watch how Pagans paddock was used to good effect against Jako. Jako may have beat Carey for strength but was nowhere near as agile and was shown up on many occasions. As for comparing turning circles you will find that Jako needed an extra wide arc, what this has to do with comparing skills with Lynch, only you know.

I actually want to see Andrew McDougall at CHB.

He pinch hit there in spurts in 2003 and he looked out of place. I think McDougall is best when he has room to roam and use his athleticism, like on a HFF.
