Everyone gets sacked into believing they'll go from being king of the shit to the king of kings. They never get challenged in juniors, so they don't have the workrate to be successful later on.

It's why most number 1s don't hit their strides until mid 20s, as it takes that long for them to be pushed

Alex McDonald was the number 1 pick in the 1988 draft. I remember he came to Old Xavs in the early 2000s - would have only been about 31-32. He was dropped from the Xavs 1s to the 2s for the finals on form..
