Can't be emphasised enough. 3 teams passed on Franklin.

yeah, it kind of makes someone come out after and make sure they understand who's boss. But having said that, if there were reasons in regards to his "head" then it only takes one week to prove those reasons on the money.
Dont forget that either. THis weeks hero can be next weeks Hollywood tourist. ;)

Don't see why Hawthorn supporters should feel smug? Lucky, relieved, grateful, happy yes. Smug No.

The only reason we cop this rubbish as much as we do is because Hawks supporters felt let down and disappointed at the end of the 2004 draft and they are now just really really REALLY happy and relieved it has worked out OK for them. The less mature ones (supporters that all clubs have I might add, we are not immune) feel the need to rub our noses in it. No doubt we earned this with the behaviour of some of our supporters after the 2004 draft.

Also the famous arrogant quote of Terry to the media.

" we have the two best players of the 2004 draft "

Well done hero. :thumbsu:

Hodge is a good player, but Judd is a once in a generation player.

Judd > Buddy and choosing Hodge over Judd is a far greater mistake than choosing Tambling over Buddy.

Nope Franklin is a once in a lifetime generation player, 196 cm KPP thats runs like the wind, can play either big or small.

If you think picking Hodge before Judd is a bigger mistake than picking Tambling over Franklin then you're a fool,

Hodge is a gun where as Tambling isn't even a spec of dirt under his shoe.

Although our club did **** it up

I must say Hawthorn were in a perfect position to take a gamble with Buddy, they already had Sam Mitchell, Luke Hodge and Shane Crawford (all quality runners) in the guts, where Richmond had no midfielders apart from Coughlan (had groin troubles at the time) Tuck and Campbell was past it.

I understand why the club did what it did, but in hindsight we stuffed it.

you've got to hand it to the Hawk supporters that feel compelled to try and rub our collective noses into the dirt after buddys performance...a perverse fanaticism that I come to expect from these BF terrorists. Try as they might, I will NEVER succumb to their devious intent. The tiger army will march forward, undeterred by cowardly ambushes from these zealots that have no regard for anyone other than their own pathetic cause. **** the lot of them...Every dog has its day

FFS..

i am so so so so over reading these comparison and rubbing it in posts everytime Franklin plays a good game..

its becomming obsessive by these ****** hawks supporters, get over it! if you want to go through the previous drafts and find players that teams passed on that are brilliant..well there is well over 100 of them!

The most amusing part of Hawks 04 draft, is the simple fact you also chose another player before Buddy. and so did the doggies, so maybe instead of coming on here to brag... have a long hard look in the mirror and realise that you only took Buddy because you had no choice. It wasnt a well thought out plan to get Buddy, as if you knew he was going to be what he is today... you would have taken him at #2.

So go away with your bullshit posts, Do you see Eagles fans posting on your board after every good Judd game with "So guys, why did you choose Hodge over Judd" ... in my eyes, thats a far greater tragedy than what unfolded in 04 draft.

Now please, run along and put the towel back on your chest and grab some pics of Buddy.

It depends on how sever the **** up is. :)
And thats my point. In the 1st 3-4 yrs you guys would have been bleeding over Judd.Hodge started his career off slow very much like Tambling. The gap between Judd and Hodge has closed.
Lets revisit this in about 5yrs:)

thats a great point.. :thumbsu:
tiger supporters are so intelligent..:)

The point is we knew you wanted Roughead and not Franklin, thats why Roughead was picked up first, thats my point.

If you were that sold on Buddy you would have picked him up with your first pick regardless of what Richmond were doing. Why take unncessary risks in the draft with 'once in a generation' players. Musta been somthing lingering there;)

Still we are well behind at the moment, our bad for not getting him:o

If Buddy is to Judd then Tambling is to Hodge.

Are you Hawk supporters happy with Hodge? Do you think he will make a great captain next year? Is he a superstar?

Tambling is a truly ordinary footballer. The only supporters that see differently on that are Richmond supporters - whenever, the little fellow gets more then 10 possessions there are usually threads started up, such as 'Tambling on the rise'. So far virtually every excuse in the book has been dragged out to explain his to date lacklustre performances - indigenous boy, young father, Melbourne winter, homesickness, etc. Has it ever occurred to you that he just isn't that good?

From my perspective, I see a lightly built kid that struggles to win his own ball; has no penetration in his kicking; is not particularly quick which is surprising; cannot use his left side with any fluency; is poor defensively and is found out ball watching all too often; and most condemning of all is that he is a jib/a short-stepper to physical contests/plays scarred.

For comparison, of players in similar roles rather then the Tambling/Franklin comparison as that is a complete joke; Rodan is a small goal kicking midfielder that always was a better player and still is then Tambling - you delisted one and used pick 4 from the national draft on the other.

Go figure.

What crap.

95% of Richmond supporters are happy with Tambling according to an online poll.

Either we are all "idiots" or your opinion is a little inaccurate :)

Hodge didn't do much in his first three years... what a dud he is now.

it was around the time we introduced the swans now famed "No $#%#head" policy when it came to assessing the merit of potential recruits...in that sense we were probably right, occasionally the genius of mankind can run contrary to conventional wisdom...when you figure that out, you'll probably quit asking stupid innane questions:eek:

But Connors, was good enough to go heaps earlier, question marks about his character and off field behaviour, yet Richmond took a punt on him. Does that mean the "no ****head policy" is gone?

We would have wrecked Franklin anyway.

Terry would have turned him into a running half back, or a rover, or something completley different to what he is now :D

The football world should be thanking us for not taking him.

So In other words, you ****ed up. It does happen.
for now;), luke hodge looked like a **** up for a while but look at him now imo breaks even with judd as he can play any possie on the ground id take him over judd anyway. but im not against buddy or anything is a gun, but its good to see someone who kicks worse then richo:p
