Why doesn't Neeld play Howe deep forward?

Simple question. With Clark down, we need blokes up forward who can take grabs. If Howe was stationed inside the 50m permanently (he's a natural forward with great hands) then at least we've got a genuine target.

I know Neeld's trying to educate him as a midfielder, but surely we need something other than the novelty factor of Rivers/Garland as our key forwards?

He's not a great set shot. Would be fairly demoralising see him line up and miss chance after chance, it's bad enough watching the 1 or 2 a game he misses currently. Also he's not really key position height is he? Would be pretty easy to stop by putting a man infront blocking space (actually thinking about that, he might just use him as a step ladder)

I would like to see him play forward a bit more often, a la Brad Green 2010 maybe, but as Demons2012 says his goal kicking leaves a lot to be desired. Moving him to the midfield has been a great option this year I reckon.

He kicked 18 - 8 last year, not sure whats wrong this year

He was a decent set shot last year. Plus, not being a great set shot hasn't worried Richo, Cloke etc.

I guess what I'm saying is, we need SOMEONE to take a grab up forward. Or at least be an aerial threat

We should be playing Stef Martin at FF more. Leave Howe in the midfield, where he is getting plenty of shots at goal anyway.

Yep. That and we need players who aren't just full-time flankers. We've got a ton of them already.

Howe has attributes to play further up field and needs time to develop that side of his game.

With his speed and leap you can play him out of the square, he's far from a full-time flanker.

Wasted in the square. He's getting around the ground and still scoring goals.

I'd much rather watch this development and see him turn into the next Brendan Goddard - but better.
