Why more teams?

Seems to me you are against it by setting unattainable goals to be able to get it. No matter how long we try no team will have completely posting players. We could cull it to 4 teams and we still wouldn't get that.

If only having players in a team that post more than a 30 times in a year is unattainable then the competition is in a sad situation and shouldn't have expanded teams. The goal has to be greater contribution and culling those that are clearly not serious participants is the way to get quality before quantity. Is it a lot to ask players to average just one post in every game they play?

This is where the difference in opinion occurs. Dipper would like heaps of teams with a captain and a list of robots. The competition would be a tactical game between captains.

On the other hand I like to see good game threads with plenty of banter and although I prefer to win, playing the game is more important.

What I'm suggesting is not unreasonable. Get rid of the disinterested and fill the existing teams up. THEN increase teams IF there is sufficient real interest to do so.

While I agree the competition would be ALOT better if everyone posted I have to agree with Kapow it is never going to happen. At the moment the squad size is 18, you are not going to get 7 people who are not playing games to post on a regular basis and as a captain you understand and try and reward the posting players as much as possible while still trying to find winning formulas.

No doubt this year we will see many new people join the league and come June-July of next year I say we would be lucky if 50% percent of them still post on a consistent basis yet if each team has a good foundation of players who will post no matter what I'm all for the new teams coming in.

Why do so many lies spill forth from your mouth when you mention me?

I don't want to see teams full of robots but unlike you I learn from the past & it's a fact that new teams have a remarkably envigorating effect on this comp, they nearly always have a higher ratio of posting than estabilished sides, you were part of the 'keep out the newbies & their teams' last off season & it has been shown that those new teams performed better postingwise than the teams already here.

The idea that we get all these new people & allocate them to current teams to fill the void left by a cull is plain stupid, a helluva lot of the time the new blokes aren't getting a fair crack at estabilished clubs.Put them into a new franchise & they all start off equally & retain their enthusiasm.

We had a cull last season that improved the overall posting to adequate levels & captains are now in the mindframe to get rid of most of their non posters every close season.

You my dear friend should start learning from the past rather than ignoring it like a cracked record.

Ah, so the cull that I pushed for last season improved the overall posting eh!!! Well why not do it again now?

Because half the cull pretty much merged with the Southern Koalas and is now pretty much a large portion of the Southern Sharks side (so much so you may aswell have called us the Battlers anyway because their team got knocked back because of the likes of yourself) and the other cull turned out being the new side in West Indies which have had quite an impact and great posting.

When I took over this comp had 8 teams with quite a lot of disinterest in the league. 4 new teams and the competition soon became the third most posted in board on BigFooty. Coincidence?

Underrated??? He is the comps #1 keeper!! No doubt about it!

You see, I had never heard of that up till this thread. If there were more active Mariners big-noting themselves and making sure it was known that Power21 was the best in the competition you wouldn't be in the position of being labelled as the worst posting side.

well I heared this terrible rumour and watched threads to the end of the season - Marniers threads were consistently average post wise - there were plenty worse than us.

PLenty of threads talking up Power 21 too - I guess we mostly post in matches, not just egomaniacal threads about garbage:)

Me, BB, Camk, Porty, Power, Jars, AA, Rob all regular posters. Pope is a bit erratic, but came back recently, Sabre has always been quiet but has mod duties keeping him busy I guess,
Sante went AWOL, waspy towards the end of season, Rozza too - but that heppens. I think you will see I pick posters, and will stand by that next year. Look at Kenny, hardly plays tests as a non poster.

If we played non-posters we'd be in the bloody GF the bonus points we don;t pick.

I'm also the one who calls for non-posters to be forced out "injured".

You have a cheek posting crap like that Kapow. Slur on a quality cricket focussed side, from a guy who should know better than to engage in such a manner.

Hey Einstein you're getting two different ideas mixed up I'll go slowly for you.

I haven't said let's not have a cull but I believe that it doesn't need to be enforced from above & that teams/captains will take upon themselmves to get rid of a lot of the dead wood.

BUT having a cull is not the issue, the issue is 2 new teams, the new teams invigorate the comp....FACT.

The only difference between our viewpoints is that I want to see the cull by captains first. I'm almost certain that virtual non posters will not be culled if left to them.
Once it's done then great, have two teams. It's not FACT that they will invigorate the competition. Particularly when many in the new teams have simply left existing teams. That leaves holes that need filling.
I'm not opposed to reducing squad sizes to increase team participation although the new rules tend to require larger squads.

And please go back to the decent Dipper...not the abusive one.
