I am an Adelaide supporter firstly. The other points are that yes fremantle will miss the finals have you seen their draw ??? They are 2 games and percentage out of the 8 so they would have to win three more games than most of the other sides to make it

Adelaide at AAMi
Geelong at Subi
West Coast at Subi
Essendon at Subi
St Kilda at Telstra Dome
Melbourne at Subi
Port at AAMI

History says that they would have to win at least 5 of the their last seven to get in, but can you see them winning 5 of the above games ???

As for the comparisions between Geelong and Fremantle, Freo have a history of underachieving. They made the finals in 03 and then had two poor years and had a break through year in 06 only to have a shocking year so far this year.

Geelong have only won one Premiership in their History. Thats underachieving.

I certainly agree with large parts of it...

But these bits bother me a tad:

  • Two local clubs, one extremely successful
  • South Freo (traditionally the less successful of the Freo clubs)

Just remember which club has won the most premierships of all WAFL clubs since WWII before we go labelling only one club as "extremely successful", and Souths as the "less successful" of the two clubs. :)

And also remember that a lot of the Head Honchos and Top Dogs of the MOB are staunchly East Freo.. and some of them are just as voraciously behind the Suma push as anyone.

But your comment that we are are a strange beast is certainly apt, and most of what you say is pretty much spot on...

Again, Why? Harvey has been there for 18-months as well, and has been part of this years decline. What evidence is there that he can coach a team at all? Again, I am probably stupid, but just dont get what is happening or why it is seen as such a positive.

As for the comments about the Darwin game, your team was outrun and outplayed that night...I am not sure that they were out-coached.[/quote]

Maybe from your prespective. We were outdone in the last quarter.
You grew up in Freo? Souths or Old Easts??

Just a little food for thought....

hypothetically of course... We somehow make the eight with Mark Harvey in charge. How many caretaker coaches have won a grand final? I dont think we have any chance of getting that far, in fact i think we will only win 2 - 3 games for rest of the year but you never know.

I see where you are coming from but I'd still stick by the comment. If you count flags (and only flags) overall Easts are the most successful club in WAFL history. That is without question.

If you are looking at more recent success (especially in the last 20 years) you'd have consider the role of WAFL clubs as primarily feeders for the AFL system. In this case the number of AA's/Brownlow medalists produced by each club would have to be taken into account, and I'd argue that Easts would still come out well on top.

Regardless, you agree with my main point (and your reply kinda backs it up). That point is the one that notes the fractured nature of FFC. It is model that a lot of supporters love and loathe at the same time, and one in which opposing groups have varying, and often conflicting, vested interests.

Groups of "Freo" people are always gonna feel a secret (sometimes not very well hidden) glee when the FCC fails, or goes through hard times, because it is not the ideal model of "Freo" as they see it.
