Well, your last post was just ridiculous. If Warnie decides that he's going home and will only play for the demon's then it wouldn't matter if you offered Tambling and Foley, he'd still end up at the Dee's. But if he wants to go home and isn't bothered where he goes I guarantee we'll get more than a 3rd round pick.

they hold all the aces, but with the tigers you guys are able to trade
richmond & fremantle have had a good tradeing past polak,bond,prescott
wood was a 1st rounder that is ready to go,
warnock is not in the same situation yet still needs another 2-3 years of developement. you cant compare warnock to guys like luenberger or kruezer, natunui , they are standouts.
remember that this draft will be compramised due to the new clubs comeing in & draft picks are worth gold to teams that need to rebuild.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly sure that he has not mentioned he wants to play anywhere. It's just media created rummer AFAIK. The only official word is that he has asked to hold off negotiations 'til later/end of the season (not that unusual these days), which I admit is not a good sign, but its a far cry from saying he has said he wants to go to Richmond.

If Richmond finish above Fremantle on the ladder and Warnock decides to go home and nominates the Tigers as his club of choice I'll be reasonably happy. But if you think you'll get him for a third round pick you're dreaming unless you are including your first round pick with that 3rd rounder. Something like your 2nd round pick and another selection in the early 20's would be reasonably fair IMO.

Richmond and Fremantle do have some recent trade history, but you guys got a great deal on both Polak and Simmonds because you finished lower than us in both of those years. If you think you are going to get Warnock for a bargain aswell then you are sadly mistaken.

Anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of the current game will know that ruckmen like Warnock (no injury concerns, agile, skillful and tall) with 3 years development in the AFL system are as rare as hens teeth. This will be exacerbated in the coming years with 2 new teams. Any trade will not be done on his current status, it will be done in the knowledge that he has the complete ruckmans toolbox minus some KGs.

As has been said, if he wants to Victoria then we are likely to get a nice bidding war and a pick around 10-15ish (Richmond, St Kilda, Essendon, Bulldogs, Melbourne, even Hawthorn would be keen). If he screws and nominates a club other than Melbourne we should still get a late-teen early-20 pick. If he screws us completely and nominates Melbourne then we get jack. Thats how it is.

Edit: The_Gnu really wants to prove he is right...with a nicely loaded poll on the Richmond board...hmm...no option for a 1st rounder? Two of the four options involving a 3rd round pick? Give me a break.

Personally, if he actually did want to go play with Richoman (plus some other blokes that they pay to make up the numbers around the great man) I would take A. Rance and a 2nd rounder/early 3rd round.

The thing that I don't understand is this... Apparently Warnock has no worth on the trade market and has shown nothing to demand a high draft pick, yet there are idiots like THE STOOGE crashing our board to ask about trading for him in May?
