If he’s dropped this week the club can get ****ed.

Can a rookie listed player request a trade?

It’ll upset a few, but there is zero benefit in a player like Sidebottom playing on next year and continuing to hold back younger players.
We need to stage the transition
End of this year Cox Mitchell WHE Oleg out
End of next year Pendles Sidey Howie Membrey
Following year - Checkers Elliott

I’d swap Cox and Sidey, we need another year of insurance from the big man. Meanwhile there is competition for Sidebottoms spot from better, younger talents

Aren't you the bloke who has strangley been potting Sidey for close on a decade?

I think Sidey will be the last of this group to retire. He’s just so clever. Would be amazing as a dedicated sub/forward pocket with experience like Bruest.

Crisp might be the only one to outlive him.

Howe is the one who I think could go on for a fair while if he wants to and doesn't cop too many injuries. Just so complete a player and such a good athlete that he could afford to still lose some athleticism. In 3 years time what'll stop him doing what Vlaustin does.

Yeah, there’s a good chance he could do 2-3 more years after this one if he wanted to. Just don’t know if he’ll have it in him mentally to keep risking injuries and doing pre-seasons. Doubly so if the team’s prospects take a nosedive soon as we expect.

If he plays on nobody. V who got injured today has been given licence to be just an interceptor without an opponent.

Given the talk about his new contract is a year and then go into a coaching role indicates 2026 would be his last. At least thats what I took from the talk.

Yeah, there's been enough talk to suggest he's likely to retire soon. I don't think the year contract is relevant though - they only give the oldies a 1 year extension.

Of course, but the fact a coaching element being attached suggests it could be his last.
But its amazing he even got this far to begin with, given his horrific injury a couple years ago

I just want Howe and Sidey to play together for ever, so I'm in a ibt of denial about the possibility of retirement.

You think Howe will still be playing at 38?

he will always get injuries. that's his history but if he plays 15+ games its a huge win.

if we get in Silvagni, McInnes returns and shows no signs of regression to what he was doing this pre season, Howe may go forward a bit more often to help in attack.

McInnes may eventually be a handy player but he has done nothing to think he is the answer.

Howe forward is good call.
