Just been looking into this MMO thats aiming to be released this year, looks pretty sweet.
It seems they are focusing more on end game content than a lot of other recent MMO's have on release.

WildStar - 9 reasons it might be the best MMO of 2013

Looks pretty good to me, but you never know with mmo's. Its got a bit of a borderlands feel to me.

The problem with MMO's is that they tend to get stale very quickly, usually it's due to their limited or mundane combat style making the gameplay feel repetitive, generally the combat is "push button, shoot spell" rinse and repeat, on top of that the your attacks don't really feel powerful or enjoyable to do because enemies are for the most part incredibly damage spongy. If an MMO could pull off a visceral and dynamic combat system with lot's of interesting and varied content you'd have yourself something special. Think Torchlight 2 or Diablo 3 in third person rather than top down as an MMO.

My problem with MMOs is that they all try and be World of Warcraft without being World of Warcraft. Pure and simple. There are not very many that are truly unique and different when you get down to the nitty gritty of it.

Anyone been in on the beta? Played it for about half an hour, got stuck on a quest got frustrated and had to put the daughter to bed  I'm very excited though by the art style, looks very pretty.

Any early thoughts from anyone else?

I've played it a bit over the last few days. The combat system is pretty interesting, although I'm only low level. The art style is really nice and I like that it doesn't seem to take itself too seriously. I'll probably end up buying it but will play casually. I don't have the time these days to play an MMO the way I played WoW when it was released.

I've preordered this one. I know what I said earlier in the thread and for the most part it is true. While there is much similar to WoW here (many people from WoW made it) there is enough new about it not to feel like a reskinned clone. Another huge positive for me is that it seems to strike the right mix of content and playability for those who do not have much time (the casuals) and those who want to play hours upon hours. Beta has been a lot of fun.

Good video goes through a fair bit of content.
Really cant wait for 31st now to get started, i always struggle to get into beta in games cause it feels like a waste a bit.

Going free to play folks. Gonna try to get into it a bit more then. Has anyone last it out?

Has launched on Steam and I'm giving it another crack. Am very much so enjoying it aside from the fact the community appears to be dead. Apparently the steam launch has a few more people running around but it's still certainly by no means WoW population wise. Logged in in the morning and there were a bunch of people around but when it gets to Australian night time it thins out considerably.

I'd probably recommend creating a Dominion character. Exile is pretty dead apparently.
