The 2016 draftee’s nippy pace and cunning goal awareness have made him a dangerous option in coach John Longmire’s forward line. A broken jaw and a persistent hip injury limited Hayward to just 12 goals in 13 senior games in 2019, but the South Australian is attacking the 2020 campaign on the back of his first full pre-season. Don’t be surprised if the exciting Swan finds himself on a wing this year.

To the people who would rather Hayward left; Who would be your preferential replacement?

No one has one. I have already explored this with the thread.
However, I think we have 2 many mids. Moving Jordon forward will enable another mid in.
Jordan is very mobile, tall to take marks so I reckon he moves forward.

We obviously need cash elsewhere if we lose Hayward.

I'd like to get Parker in, Sheldrick in. Mills will come in. Too many spots for everyone to be in.

I think we way overestimate the money factor when it comes to these decisions and the chances of another team effectively buying Hayward.

I think we should be doing everything to keep him, we can't keep losing best 22 players. I am sure we are, but maybe we trade others or make cuts elsewhere to pay him. Pension someone off

I'd have Banfield. But I don't think he's gettable without paying massive overs.

So what, why is it only us who has to cop the outside interest, just ask the question and declare interest even if it's faux or to test the waters. Banfields top inflated price would probably be in the 700s, but as it stands Freo probably thinks it's a stock standard easy 5-600k signature. Make em pay up, or at worst we may even end up with a cheaper Hayward replacement. It would also dent what they thought to put into a Logan offer budget

If it is true he's in the top 10 paid players at the club, we really should trade him asap. He's simply not worth that much. If we gave him a significant pay cut then sure, let him be on our interchange.

My opinion hasn't changed. Hayward has always been capable of what we saw today. We've seen great performances before, followed by quiet patches. But if the pressure, hustle and composure continues, he's got the talent to back it up and be worth us fending off good offers.
