Much better than the usual wanky names involving "Lakes" and "Springs" that always get used in new areas here :thumbsd: Although to be fair they are usually just used by the developers to entice young parents and don't have any actual legal recognition :thumbsu: But they do tend to stick around in public usage even long after the developers have sold all the lots and ____ed off :thumbsd:

I knew of this name 18 months ago thanks to the Sales Person at Whyndham Waters.

It's basically made up from the fact that it's over the old Williams Air Force Base so it's actually a practical name.

I see one of the developers is trying to get a new suburb name around the Thompsons Road area of Cranbourne to, get this, Cranwick (Cranbourne / Berwick)! The local Council (City of Casey) won't allow it but as the developer is asking 200k+ for blocks in Cranbourne it would be fair to say they will need a bit of a boost.

Other new suburbs over the past couple of years include Cairnlea (Deer Park) and Sanhdhurst (Skye). It is amazing what a new name will do for land prices!

I did also, all people that own land or live in Wyndham waters were asked to vote on the name of the new Suburb 3027.

From memory the options were Truganina, Laverton (I'll kill myself before I vote to call it laverton) Williams Landing & one other I can't remember, so you can see why I would have voted for williams landing.

The name makes sense to me as it was generated from the history of the site.

The suburb includes all the old RAAF land & the Wyndham Waters estate.

I think the land on the RAAF base goes up for sale soon.

The Suburb "line" went through the Estate Wyndham Waters with the "Laverton" side really selling quick but the "Truganina" side sold a lot slower.

The Williams Landing name now applies to all of that Estate.

Done a lot of business with developers/builders in Cairnlea. Shocking name and socking suburb. Looks like a retirement village. No character whatsoever.
