Nah, that depth couldn't win us a premiership. The problem isn't who went but stayed and who replaced those that left. The 2002 & 2003 drafts were poor for us and the trade periods were non events. Our football department have failed miserably in keeping the list stocked.

If you look closely at the Willy side you'll see its the experienced non-Collingwood players who won us the flag. People like West, Cranage, Baldwin. Fletcher, Lloyd, Richardson and Mahoney, plus near-retired Pie players like Freeborn and Molloy, were far too big physical and experienced for other teams who were chock full of 18 year old players.

The Willy flag was a false dawn, and disguised the lack of quality in the Collingwood list.
