Boumann - how did he do?

Really well. Played a bit as a winger before moving into the forward line. Held his marks and was a very good performer in the 2nd half
Seconds efforts still need a bit of work but he has improved from the start of the season.

Plus Doogs just back from a back injury so perhaps there's still hope. Good you didn't see Addison there :p

Thanks for the report!

ill give use a little wrap on some of your players

mcdougall - absolute disgrace!! should get delisted, played on scott simpson who kicked 8 and was also on lonergan for a bit who kicked 3

everitt - ordinary for his standards but was his 1st game back

ray - played pretty well especially for the first game back 20 sumthin pozzies good return

o keefe - played well, suprised he wasnt in your best had about 26 posessions probly 5 clearences played well in my view.

stack - was good one of there best. think he was named 5th best so coaches thought the same.

ward - ok. not great but not bad didnt really notice him in the 1st half

grant - quick on the lead and good hands but is lazy and could be alot better! needs to get the lazyness out of him and will be a good player but until he does that he will be stuck in the vfl for a while i reakon.

street - impressive won majority of hitouts and was good around the ground. only had dawson simpson the 1st year giant as his opponent tho so should of dominated.

skipper - dissapointing. tries and tries i reakon but didnt really have a great game at all.

tiller - didnt really notice much of him so cant really comment.

addison - same as above didnt really notice him

out of the vfl listed players meyer..think his vfl listed he played lonergan pretty well. cloke ordinary, harry taylor killed him, jolley good, brett johnson tried all day, stretton good runs very hard, urch and galea got an absolute towling. dave johnson killed urch and galea just didnt look interested and steven greene was ok

but overall im really really disapointed in andrew mcdougall and so should use guys be top 5 or 10 draft pick and just isnt doing anything!

Thank you for your report.

It was the reserves game that O'Shea kicked his goals at not the one against the Cats VFL squad.

That is the concern for me - it was a reserves game! After a year in the system i would have hoped that O'Shea was better than VFL reserves standard. Maybe it was due to the rules (limited number of AFL listed playes in the ones???) but if not i think it is disappointing.

Disagree MrW. O'Shea was as very green last season and spent all but one week playing in the reserves. They mainly played him as a defender and he was a dour tough nut but he didn't get a lot of the ball.

This year they have played in in the firsts as a defender and he has become an ultra defensive minded player who rarely touches the ball.
On Saturday they used him as the CHF for nearly all of the game and he was running around, being creative and most importantly learning another skill. 4 goals later he is far better for the experience.
Like it or not, another week or two in the reserves will be very good for him.
His omission from the firsts was largely based on his form and I think it was a good option for him.

There is no good playing in the firsts if it will not ultimately develop him into a senior player for the Dogs. Given what I have seen of him this year (about 5 games) the style of what he was doing was never going to earn him a promotion. At least if he gets some runs on the board as a forward he could come back into the Williamstown senior side as a forward option.

Tiller has been moved around a fair bit this season and I think it is working wonders for him and while the jury is still out on O'Shea, I don't think a short stint in the reserves is necessarily a bad thing.
Of course I would prefer that his form hadn't necessitated the demotion but this might end up being a positive for him.

20 games in the firsts scragging his opponent as a defender and getting 8 or 10 touches will never get him into the Dogs senior side.

unless he does it as well as Morris does it :)

But seriously I think it is good for him too. Reserves or not 4 goals from his first outing at CHF is a good return and will do wonders for his confidence if nothing else.

Doesn't bother me. I mean, the guy was a smokey, he's still learning the game and new positions will only help that. He's done well at each job he's been given, even though it's at a low level, but at least he's out there playing, not getting injured and developing.

He's not going to be a Dogs player this year, so at this stage as long as he's learning, it's good. Hopefully he'll get some Senior VFL games at the tail end of the season and push for a Dogs debut in 2009.

No need to rush him.

It's all well and good saying it will help him develop for next year, thats if he is still on the list. After two years on the list running around in VFL reserves no matter how 'green' you are, you will be in line for delistion.

I don't think he will win DaListon Medal this year.

The kid turned 19 just 18 days ago.......

As stated, he has not been getting much of the ball, his only contributions have been spoiling opponents. To play at CHF and have an opportunity to utilise his athleticism and skills as an attacking option will do wonders for him. He came to the Club as a forward and has spent next to no time in the forward line.

A change is as good as a holiday and if a few weeks running around the forward line and kicking goals helps him enjoy his footy and regain some focus then we all win.

Do not write this kid off just because he is having a game or 2 in the Willi Reserves.

just curious whether anyone thinks mal lynch is a chance to get some seniors action this year?

He played a few last year and did some nice things. If Harbrow and Hill continue their poor form then there's a spot for a crumbing forward (especially with Higgins out). If his form at Willy is good I'd say he'd play a game or two later in the season. He was out for a long time with that hammy injury though - hope there isn't more to it.
