News Willie Rioli signs for Tiwi Bombers and Tullamarine

We owe it to Willie to help get his mind in better place but I wonder what effect all this media attention is having on the rest of the playing group? Maybe it is bringing them closer together or maybe they are losing focus on the task at hand? I guess it is up to Hinkley, Davies and Co. to keep the playing group focused on this week's game. No one needs this shit.

Unless there is some sensational development this will be my last post in this thread for a while, I will leave it to the rest of you to argue or agree I am moving on. I am over it and will concentrate on waiting for white smoke from the Sistine Chimney. ;)

So has he got one week under the Conduct Unbecoming clause.

Lets see that defined in black and white.

AFL should apply a Conduct Unbecoming charge to its self the way it administers the rules, umpiring, tribunal, gambling deals, rigged FIXture etc.

Seriously a Collingwood supporter preaching about racism and morality the AFL has bent over for your club a million times you hypocrite.
The club I support has nothing to do with this.
I openly admitted that my club has been involved with some really poor things, going back many years.
In fact I said to my wife only recently, that since Fly has been there, I can finally say I am proud to be a Collingwood supporter, as our past is really shitful.
So I am far from a hypocrite.

My whole point was, that Rioli should never had been put through all the bullshit he has for this week because Port and the AFL did a piss poor job of handling the situation.

Port especially knew of past incidents, should have just said "Willie take a week off mate, to get your head right".
But instead, they did nothing, then the blood hounds that is AFL media, went to town and made it worse for the poor bloke than what was ever needed.

Make no mistake, I think he did wrong but the bullshit he has had to put up with this week (and maybe going forward for a few more) could and should have been avoided.
Because in this case, the punishment (as in the media and feedback he would be getting) doesn't fit the crime.

A week off at the start to get his head right and this was over.

Good to see that players can now be banned for threats made to opposition players during games.

And that this can be applied retrospectively.

Let the witch hunt begin...

You've fallen for the onfield smack talk 'pattern' garbage it shouldn't be lumped with what happened last week, to paint it like the AFL is loaded with lily white choirboys running around each week while 'Hitman Willie' is verbally threatening death on the regular is the biggest load of horseshit imaginable.

Im sick of our players getting games for minor crap like this. We need to fight back. For anyone that has dobbed on Rioli we should accuse them of racial abuse and see how they like coping games. They will soon shut their mouths.

Tom Morris reporting on text messages, and things said on-field.

Fox Sports sacked Morris on Friday over sexist remarks he made about a female colleague as well as separate homophobic and racist slurs, which were widely circulated on Thursday.

Honestly, we're drowning in a sea of hypocrisy

I recall someone discussing terrorising a particular player. Who was it?

ngl, did laugh

Inspired by inbetweeners camping episode, should swap unlocked phones with a mate & send any mssg/ death threat to any contact on their phone. They do likewise with yours.

Years ago when ports were rolling Geelong in a final I sent a text mssg to an old mate who follows the cats saying ‘u must be getting very nervous’ but sent it to this chick I bought my car off years earlier by mistake. Oops

Ahh.
So today's 'Tiser has emblazoned over the front page that the AFL has lowered the boom on young Willie, and let him know in no uncertain terms that they are in charge and they have smacked him with a suspension 😤

Of one week!

Boy are we lucky to have them in full command of the situation 🤪

Ummh.
Hang on. Didn't Willie advise the world several hours earlier that he'd pulled himself out of this weekend's game?
No?
Ahh. Must have been my imagination.

Kinda like using an armada of aerial water bomber planes and choppers to put out a tiny camp fire - which had already been extinguished 🙄🤔

As some have said already, why not just make him do some basic behavioural training, tell him to stay off the social media for a while, and give him a suspended sentence?
If he transgresses again, it gets added on to whatever penalty he gets for the next infraction.
And do it from the outset, not 5 days later.

Everybody's happy.

Nah. Too logical.

I'm not a proponent of drugs but when it comes down to it, our Willie is a bit sensitive and he really needs a week or two off to self-medicate on the bamboo telephone.

Just chill out Willie.

Credit where it's due, the messaging from PAFC throughout all this has been pretty good. Not perfect, but good. They've acknowledged Rioli's behaviour as unacceptable, but also haven't shied away from talking about the context in which it occurs. They've been effective advocates for his welfare both to the AFL and in the media, and one can only assume that extends to how they're dealing with him personally. Hopefully Willie is in a good enough space to recognise and benefit from that support.

The fact that the AFL are somehow crying victim here is absolutely outrageous

What are you on about? Assume Dillon or Kane claiming they were not appropriately informed as some kind of deflection for the hopeless mismanagement of the situation.
