Win 7, HDD question

Bear with me in this one.

Ok, so I have pc with an OEM Win 7 installed on it. But I also have a spare hdd not being used. In fact never been used and not 'plugged in'.

Can I hook it up without effecting the main drive, install win 7 on in again, disconnect it, then use this on another pc build?


Why is not the point. Just wondering if it can be done? Or is the OP kinda mated to the original m/b?

Yep, OEM copies are tied to the motherboard of the computer they're originally installed on.

So if my current m/b packs it in, I can't use my current hdd with win7 on it if I replace the m/b? The hdd doesn't know what m/b it's pugged into does it?
