Windows Live Messenger Virus

Can someone help me out here - Microsoft have no free support other than a useless FAQ.

Lately it appears I have been (without knowing) sending people this message (or something quite like it):
"Did you see the Acai Berry pills on Oprah the other day. I found a good source for 5 dollars. They really do work because I lost 6 pounds in a week. Try it too http://givenew.com"

I have tried the following:
-Virus scans (about 3 of them so far, only found tracking cookies and removed them all) - Using AVG Free
-Spybot S&D scan
-Uninstalling and reinstalling Messenger

So far nothing has worked, messages still being sent.

Any suggestions?

Hey Catmeister, are you using MSN itself? that might be the problem!!

Have you tried one of the other multi IRQ programs such as Trillian, Digsby or Miranda? They might help.

At the mo I use Digsby and before that Trillian and neither have caused me any grief.

Perhaps give one of those a go for a while

Use Avast as your virus protecting one of its tools is protecting instant messaging programs.

I havent been able to activate my windows messenger for about 8 months. I log in and it says I cant. Troubleshoot is no help.

Also some virus protector thingys cant automatically download because it says 'internet connection failed'. yet I have no problem accessing sites. I have no idea what the problem is.

Anyone had this?

Yeah, was a pain for me but I found out that my problem was AVG Internet Security blocking msn. I uninstalled it because it was a pain in the ass and now it works!
