Just wondering if anyone can help me out with a problem i am having with my wireless aircard. I recently just got a 4G Sierra wireless aircard as i travel a lot for work but internet only seems to work when connected to my VPN network at work. When i am not connected to the VPN network at work and just want to browse the net using the aircard on its own i cannot seem to get any internet working. Is there some sort of setting that needs to be activated for this to happen? Would appreciate some help from someone out there that may know.

Check your proxy settings in your browser, you're probably being forced through the corporate proxy server which you won't be able to access without the VPN tunnel. If your company has group policy security settings the box may be greyed out, but you can generally bypass that with a simple registry key.

I have checked the proxy settings and there are no security settings that are greyed out to prevent me accessing the internet. I am getting internet now but it is very slow to load up and sometimes just times out. Funny thing was it was all working quite well when i first got the aircard for the first week but now somehow isnt. Anything else i might be able to try?

What is the watcher software reporting? Full signal? 3G/4G? Does your phone struggle with data in the same location?

Full signal 4G is whats been reported and my phone is ok with internet in the same location

We have 100's of these things floating around in our department and I can't say I've heard of that kind of thing happening. Uninstalling it, rebooting the system, and reinstalling the watcher (a later version if it exists) is an option..... but it can sometimes break the VPN client. If everything works fine over VPN it suggests there might be a funky network setting somewhere that's breaking it.
