Hi. I'm having trouble with the wireless internet connection on some notebook. The main connection is working fine, hence I'm connected up here. But one notebook dropped out about 2-3-4 weeks ago and hasn't picked up any connection since. This one dropped out about 10 days ago, but revived itself within an hour, and has had no issues again until tonight - where it dropped out about an hour ago, and despite moving to different locations and having 4/5 bars in signal, and recognising all the wireless connections in the area, it refuses to reconnect.

Any ideas what the story might be? Is this an easy fix (I'm guessing/hoping it is)?

Thank you :)

I had a connection problem last week and I found the issue was that my new home network was called "netgear" and because I had been on other networks called "netgear" in the past, the password I had setup wasn't matching the old Netgear networks I had been on in Coffee shops and friends houses etc.

The solution was to go into the wireless network manager (where networks you have been on before are saved) and delete any old ones, especially if they have the same name.

Even if your not a netgear network, just delete them all and start from scratch with the new network.

Hope that helps!

What model laptop and wireless router?

Windows 7?

Do what the dude above said, also more stuff below

Go into device manager and to your properties of your wireless nic - in there somewhere is an option for power management. Set that to always be on, never sleep or go low power.

Then go to your control panel power management options. Change the options in there to never touch the power for your wireless nic - both on battery and while charging
