NAB Grand Final

it's been a good effort to make it this far but we'll have to be on our game if we want to knock off adelaide over there. Firstly our record interstate, our form has been alright and their form has been great. it's gonna be tough but we can beat em

It wouldn't surprise me if this is a dress rehersal for the big one in September.

We are very pleased with the way our squad has deepened in the last 12 months with the youngsters ready for AFL action this year.

Saturday should see Bock, Goody and a couple of others available but Roo, Welsh and Torney will miss.

Your record is shocking at AAMI but I'm looking forward to the game - hopefully it's a beauty.

Good luck....in small doses !!..;)

We havent played at all close to our best footy in the NAB cup so far and still made the granny. If we can turn it on, even with 8 or so big names still out, I'd expect us to come close, but to win over there wuld be very difficult

Gees NAB must be a bit anoyed that so many people seem to have a mental lock on Wizard. A bit like Shell down at Skilled.

As far as our record gos in SA, I find it almost stupid that one can bring up stats that have nothing to do with this current side. The last five years stats would be relavant but missleading. Geelong has been on an upward climb and most of the games over the last five years would have involved sub par teams. The next 5 years Id hope to win at least 50% of our out of state games.

No matter what because of of percieved weakness out of state, external pressure will build if we do anything less than win this GF. A poor effort or a valiant lossing effort , it will all come down to another out of state loss, another GF loss etc. The good thing if we do roll the Crows, we will pickup up a lot more cred that it deserves

That's right Turbocat especially when you consider that Adelaide have never been able to defeat Geelong in a preseason cup Grand Final held at AAMI Stadium in the last two centuries.

Same thing as last week, quite a few believed that a near full strength Freo would have their way with us but they had never beaten us in a preseason semi final held at an indoor stadium since they joined the competition and our record still remains intact.

Gaz to turn it on for the grandy i reckon....I just hope we win. I know its the pre season cup but ******** I hate it when we lose finals!!

I expect us to get a decent slapping this week for the following reasons:

1. The opposition we've beaten so far has been pathetic. Carlton (say no more), an eighth strength Kangas and Freo who were terrible when it counted in the last quarter. Yes, we've had many good players out and our second stringers have been great but I don't expect the makeup of the side to change that much this week.

2. We are still very rusty. In particular our passing by both foot and hand, although improving, is not up to scratch. This will improve but Adelaide seem more polished at the mo'. Our kicking for goal is (still) appalling.

3. The personnel. We've really missed having some decent forward targets and that won't change this week. Adelaide have an excellent defence and they won't be troubled by the likes of Lonergan, Gardiner and Nathan. Even if Ottens returns, he's nowhere near match fit and could only play a half out of the goalsquare at the most.

But... in the end... I don't care! September is all that matters!!!

Neither does the lack of silverware, yet it keeps getting discussed and the pressure mounts....

Yeah well if we think its going to get easier than this week then we are dreaming. All the media are talking about are the ComGames, Cricket,Drugs... really we are rating the barest of mention. Really no build up at all. Its a chance to set us on the path to being the club we want to be. For Carlton last year it was really meaning less, for us it would be one less thing on our must do list.
