Definetly both injuries are blows, but not so major that the whole season is now lost. Still expect us to be competitive and 6-8 wins is not out of reach.

Schultz was earn marked as our CHB this season. Without strong KPP stock, unless Bowden can fill that role the job will be passed over to either Morrison or Hall for about 1/2 the season. This leaves me not confident what so ever...

Rodan has been near our best in training and looked for a steller '05. These 2 were going to be vital cogs this season and for the future (hopfully long term they still will be).

I beleive the loss of these blokes, with such a immature side will have a large effect.

Schultz was ear marked for CHB, but more as part of a long term strategic goal of building sustained success. It would have been very much a developmental year for him in that position this year. In the short term we would probably be more competitive with more experienced players such as Kellaway, Bowden or even Hall at CHB. But for once we have taken a long term view. His injury will be a bit of a setback to his development, but he can use it as an opportunity to build his strength. And as long as the break heals ok and there is no tendon or ligament damage, it shouldn't be too much of a setback.

With Rodan, he was having a good pre-season, but it would be a huge developmental leap if he went from almost a fringe player to a match winner overnight. As it is, his injury will probably provide more opportunities for young players such as Deledio, Roach etc. and possibly elevation of a rookie.

The injuries will be a setback to the development of these two players and as a result to the team, but I don't think it will have the large effect this season that you believe.

if we get through the next few weeks without any injuries we will go into round 1 with 23 of our top 25 and 14 of our top 15 availible , hardly a bad situation injury wise..
as disappointing as it is for rodan if anything we are in a fairly good situation injury wise...

its just so typical or Richmonds fortunes. Get a new coach in, he publically put's his support behind two fringe young players to stand up and go to the next level - and before the season even starts they both are on the pine. Schultz might be back in round 7 - but he wont be match hardened and fit till about round 13 more than likely.

for some reason Richmond were meant to do it the hard way. We always seem to get bad injuries at bad times. i.e gaspar V north , Campbell v Geelong, and who could forget the week when both hall, stafford, and ottens were injured against West Coast, Leaving ol Royce "drink and drive" Vardy to play ruck all on his lonesome against Gardiner! That was all in 2003 alone! thats what we get for having a good start to the season - lol

That along with the 2000 season, where we just got a shocking run of injuries that finally took its toll as we slipped for 4-9 - for some reason, we were never meant to do it easy.
