Personally, I would like to see Judgey Coach for another year before looking to change Coach.

But, there was to be a change I would choose John Worsfold. I feel he may be limited in experience in not having been a Senior Coach. But he has played under Malthouse and Parkin so has had some exposure to top Coaches.

I think he would help to maintain the culture at the Club. I was interested to read Alan Jeans say that the Saints too often have looked outside the Club. How much better they we would be if they had appointed Danny Frawley?

We all know Woosha. I think we would have faith in him to make a good fist of it. I think the members and sponsors would flood back.

All very attractive to the Board. But they need to stand firm and back Judge.

GO EAGLES!

The argument against one more year

If Judgey was brought in for recruiting purposes then the trading deals for this year and recruiting lists will be just about finalised by now.
Next year, by mid season KJ will be asking for a new contarct. If he doesn't get one he will know he is finished and will not involve himself in next years recruiting wholeheartedly.

Therefore, after this years trading and draftinf KJ is of no use to the Eagles unless his contact is extended.

On the other hand if we want Woosha it has to be at the end of this season or he will go to Freo, he wont wait.

The eagles could secretly offer Woosha a contract starting end of 2002 with an option to start earlier if KJ gets sacked. This way KJ doesn't know about it and goes on doing his job, while we will have secured Woosha.

However, there is also that rumour that the eagles have approached Wallace to coach us. Maybe we could offer him a similar deal to the one i described above, thus securing us a quality coach as well as fully utilising KJ recruiting and development abilities.

Overall though, i would like to see KJ keep his job for next year, give him a few rounds(8-12) to prove his worth without all the injuries that have plagued his team over the last two years.

Maybe ask Woosha to come and be an assistant for next season, Tell Judgey he has the whole year to coach his way, then maybe keep him on as a recruiting officer. He would know anyway that he will probably not get a renewed contract, but would still try his best to make him look good so he can get another coaching job, or stay on as recruiting officer.

KJ's manager is going to have talks with the eagles about his futue this week, if the eagles don't guarantee him his job for next year i would expect him to apply for the Saints+Freo jobs. Otherwise this might be the end of his coaching days.

Pity though, because he had a good thing going at Hawthorn but returned to the WCE to help us out, now we destroyed his career.

I really have a problem with the KJ fairy story at Hawthorn. He was with them for three years and their highest position was 9th. Since then they have played reasonable footy but are not a top side. Most Hawthorn supporters on bigfooty thought he was a crap coach and so did a lot of Hawthorn players.
In the last two seasons with Judge as coach the Eagles have been pathetic. No, I'll correct that. The first few games of last season were good, but then the MM discipline died and we had a woeful second half of the season which has followed through to this season and if he stays wll probably follow through to next season.
What about the crap that MM took over at the Pies!! But he has guys like Brodie Holland(Freo no-hoper) standing tall and has produced a half decent side likely to play finals footy this season.

I've changed my opinion on Judge since today's game. I dont care if he's blooding the youngsters, there's such thing as blooding them correctly and goddamit he has a very odd way of doing it! Yes KJ is a disciplarian but if they don't listen to him it dont mean jack all. Bring back Woosha who will actually teach some disciplined footy into them, not just telling to go out there and play. I hope you get the gist of what I mean, I'm just pissed off about his coaching decisions today and how the younger players played!

I'd just like to correct a couple of urban myths that have grown up around Judge:

Pity though, because he had a good thing going at Hawthorn but returned to the WCE to help us out, now we destroyed his career.

Fact: A significant number of people at Hawthorn were trying to get rid of Judge. There was no guarantee at all that he would be asked to coach on. Most Hawk fans don't rate Judge - witness their hysteria at the Ansett Cup game at Waverly when Hawthorn kept us goalless till the final quarter when he took us over (I was there). Also see my bigfooty AFL thread the other day. A lot of the players don't like him, eg Croad. It is totally misleading to say we destroyed his career. He's responsible for his own career. He might be destroying my club!

Yes KJ is a disciplarian

No he isn't - or certainly not in the Malthouse way. East Fremantle players got away with a helluva lot under Judge. Hawthorn players were on a TV "documentary" having group sex with some groupie slag. Just because he looks miserable doesn't mean he's a disciplinarian. The best discipline is self-discipline, where people are "disciplined" in their approach to footy. I don't think our young players are disciplined. They are frightened to make mistakes, sure, but that's not disciplined.

I hope this kind of stuff doesn't really go on. I'd hate to have to put our management/board into the same category as I have Fremantle's.

I disagree, i think he will wait. I think he knows that in the near future he could very well be the coach of his beloved Eagles. I cant see anyone jumping at the chance to coach Freo.

On Basil's Footy Show, Scott Watters (self-appointed "King of the Docker Universe") said that Fremantle don't want John Worsfold because they want a tried and tested senior coach (which I took to mean someone who's proved they can stuff up already at another club).

Let's hope that this is true and that Woosha will return to his people.

I agree with Scotty Watters. The Dockers dont need another untested coach, they need a Wallace, Eade or a Pagan. Not an untried assistant.

I agree. But, can we afford an 'untried assistant' any more than Freo can?

Scott Watters is a tosser

Enough said

I am in two minds with Judge. As much as I like to see him fulfill his contract and develop the Eagles, I feel if we dont get Woosha back in the club, the players wont play with the same compassion as Woosha would instill in him. I am still tossing and turning on the coaching position, but if the Eagles lose to Fremantle Frockers or the Saints, then I think Judge will be sacked regardless.

I also believe admin at the WCE also need to be looked at. We have taken some bad steps with bad recruiting and marketing. I know the jumpers are an issue, but as much as I love my team, they look foreign in the jumpers.
