"We're going for it. We feel that's exactly what we lack in the midfield, that pace we haven't had," said Lloyd.
"We will have pick six and where I think West Coast are going to like Essendon is, we have plenty of great Western Australian young talent at our footy club.
"He is the best player in the competition. It's going to hurt (to lose players) but in saying that, I'm not sure how the younger players at our club feel, whether some of them can be homesick. At times it can work out for some of our players that they are happier being at home,"
"Absolutely not. They are not on the table," said Essendon recruiting manager Adrian Dodoro last night.
"They are the future of our club and the process for Chris Judd is that we have to speak to him first and he needs to decide what he wants to do, then we'll decide what we are prepared to give up. But I can categorically tell you that those boys are not being mentioned."
Essendon managing director Peter Jackson ruled out trading Ryder and Gumbleton. "Given the number of talented young Western Australians we have … it is only natural that people will speculate," he said on the Essendon website. "We won't be making any rash decisions with players we think could be here for the next 10 or 12 years."
