The Ataris - Boys of Summer

poor call - if anything, the cover was even better than the original (which is quite a feat)

I'll more than happily nominate The Herd's 'I was only 19' though

That lame as **** dance version of Black Flag's 'Wasted' that was out 3 or so years ago. Grating in the extreme.

lindsey hohan- edge of seventeen:thumbsd:
dixi chicks- Landslide ...barf...

Never knew Lindsey sung the song that hailed Stevie the Queen of Rock in 1981. I'd rather hear the other Lindsay sing Stevies song. The intro of the song has been used on a few recent songs, that song "can you handle this" you ever note that?

i despise any that involve lame samplings of classic hits. there should be a law passed against them. in fact i am starting a political party and that is my platform, to ban every DJ sammy (and those of its ilk) 'tune' from being played or recorded in this country. whats really torn it for me is i heard someone doing a cheesy pop doof doof version of iggy pops' 'the passenger' the other day and i had to pull over in the car, get out, and run down the street screaming. the top of my head nearly literally blew right off. and if the rogue traders ever come within 100 foot of me they may consider themselves vaporised.

apart from that i tend to forget, over the years, the things i really hated in music at a particular time. that is unless it crosses my path in some way again. right now the only cover, apart from a few that have been mentioned already, that i can think of that i truly hate is the counting crows 'big yellow taxi'

I don't understand why so many dance songs are ripping off Elvis Costello's "Pump It Up" riff. Quite enjoyed RHCP Mary Janes Last Dance though, sounds a little familiar.

Tori Amos covers a ****load of awesome songs and it ****es me off.

I'd have to agree with the Britney Spears, Limp Bizkit, Madonna and Jessica Simpson mentions in this thread

I also heard a horrific cover of Rock the Casbah in the movie Brokedown Palace lastnight. Bad Bad Bad.
