These are the most recent in memory
1. Dean Wallis - had a brainfade and thought he was a bigger, slower and uncoordinated version of Long, Bradley or Judd.
2. Jim Stynes - May have been unaware of the rules but nonetheless was a shocker.
3. Rhyce Shaw - reputation took a battering for his stuff-ups but has recovered to be a good player
4. Brent Staker - value would have dropped as a result of failing and being found out when the blowtorch was applied late in the last quarter.

What other shockers have been played that may have cost their team a final or flag?

Agree re Gardiner

Bit harsh on Staker, still relatively young and inexperienced

Staker is not that young and inexperienced. He's been around for bloody years.

Daniel Chick has to be up there plyed a terrible game shuld of got dragged but stayed out there one of the worst individual performances ive seen

A GF is like any other game - some guys play well and make a name for themselves (ie How good were Fosdike and Roberts-Thomson??) and other don't go so well. The problem for the latter is that the magnifying glass is 10x bigger.

Gardiner's game was clearly the most disappointing on the ground. Staker and Ablett made a few shocking blues but Gardiner had a key role in the match as the big gun on their otherwise average forward line. His performace in this role was pathetic - the one chance he got he stuffed up. Staker's a kid and can be forgiven - like Cole and R.Shaw he'll get his chance to make amends. Ablett lives on because he can at least say "Well I was on Judd" and they won. But sadly for a good player like Gardiner, his stocks will have bottomed out after yesterday.

neon leon back to back, '02/'03.

mark athorn in '93 was pretty bad.

cam mooney did nothing in '99.

Bit harsh on Cam Mooney - he sat on the bench all day and won a medal in just his 11th game. It was funny though. Pagan put him on with the game in the bag with around 5mins to go - but he gave away a stupid free kick and got promptly dragged with Olympic rings for stats. Never played for the Roos again.

In the end it didn't cost them the flag and O'Loughlin should be there with Ablett for nearly kicking the Swans out of the game.
