Worst performance in a Grand final

The scoring in those days was just like soccer. A goal was a goal. It was in 1897 that the behinds were introduced, after Collingwood and South Melbourne couldn't be seperated by either games won or percentage and they had to play the first ever VFA grand final in 1896. Behinds were recorded before that, but never used in the totals.

I think that's right anyway. Lots of draws in the old days!

How about the '72 Port Pirie under 12's School Footy.

Undeafeated Risdon Park kicked 1 goal 16 behinds.

Pirie West 3 goals 1 behind.

(I played for Risdon - 4 of them poinyts are mine)

'tis a pity that Geelong West from the old VFA - the perrenial whipping boys (who must've held the VFA record for most scores of 30+ goals kicked against a single side) weren't good enough since the days of colour TV to make a granny or 2. If they had - they would not have disappointed with some shockers.

To change sports but same theme. Junior cricket - a game I played in many moons ago. We were sent in and bowled out for 13 (a bad toss to lose - a fiercly bouncy and seaming malthoid strip plus a widly swinging ball due to the mid summer humidity). The other side were having a hit before the drinks break and they too were also rolled for 13. We had a second dig and were worth recipients of the 'most improved award' and managed to put 27 runs on the board before losing our 10th wicket (& 20th for the morning). Boy was the coach proud as punch!

And the cinderella finish <insert drum roll> - we rolled our opponents for another sub 20 score and won outright before lunch in a single session.

The performance of North Melbourne in the 2nd half of the 98 GF was pretty ordinary!

My heart bleeds

You mean the second quarter, Davo! They could have buried the Crows if their radar had been working that term! That's when they lost the grand final that year!

Just as bad as the 1948 VFL Grand Final.

Melbourne 10.9 69 Essendon 7.27 69

Luckily for them it happened to be a draw.

But to dissapointment, they lost in the replay by 13.11 to 7.8

Geelong West actually made eight grand finals, winning four.

1964 (Div 2) def Sunshine 14.14 to 11.11
1966 (Div 2) def by Prahran 17.12 to 5.15
1967 (Div 2) def by Oakleigh 12.14 to 11.7
1968 (Div 2) def Williamstown 20.15 to 18.15
1972 (Div 2) def Caulfield 14.16 to 14.10
1975 (Div 1) def Dandenong 18.13 to 14.9
1979 (Div 1) def by Coburg 16.15 to 14.19
1983 (Div 1) def by Preston 14.10 to 12.15

The 2000 Northern Areas Football Grand final would rank among the worst scores.

Broughton-Mundorra 9.4 (58) defeated Crystal Brook 5.20 (50) this was Crystal Brook's 4th sucessive Grand Final defeat.

Yarra Valley Mountain District Football League Division 2 Grand Final 2007

Thornton/Eildon 22.11.143 d Belgrave 6.9.45

Belgrave came down from divison 1 that year
