Previous posts have mentioned that the Spotty players have gone for more money than Spotswood were prepared to pay (good to see a club being responsible with their money). The money has not run out, they are just good money managers.

Rumour has it that Cameron Beasley is back to play locally. His experience would be handy at Spotswood or Hoppers.

Re: Western Region FL - Division One - Part 3

have heard from the grape vine that spotty has got two players from melton one returning from qld the kid from qld can play very handy in bursts to both handy left footers the one from qld loves the nightlife so see how he goes back in melb

Re: Western Region FL - Division One - Part 3

Any reason for this STRONGBOW, I have heard some things going on at the club, though will not divulge on a public forum.

Does it just come down to money and the fact it has run out. Or these players just looking for a new challenge:confused:

always lots going on around Spotty very busy club.

cant comment on the money side as there's probably only 2-3 who know about these matters and i'm not one of those. but as i said earlier the side has had some major changes over the past 4 years, maybe playing in such a successful side opens you up for some big offers elsewhere.

can always look on Spotty's website and look at the changes in the premiership sides.

i did have a chat with a few of the younger guys before then again mid season and some said that they would like to give it a try at a higher level at some stage.

some more recent news i was told that one of the new recruits was i quote " a f ing freak" so maybe things not so bad

Re: Western Region FL - Division One - Part 3

Ud have to be a complete nuffy to write Spotty off... Is Molan playing? If both he and Crackers go they may struggle to kick winning scores but even so they have enough cattle to be there abouts come finals.

Re: Western Region FL - Division One - Part 3

I took your advcie and went onto the Spotty website to look at the changes, but couldnt find last years team?
Oh thats right, they lost!

GO CATS

Wouldn't take long to go through Albion's premierships.

Just on Albion, I hear The two little midfielders have left for the EDFL. I think it's Bonici and Turner. Also what's Bloomfield doing this year, has he gone to a VFL club.

Back to Spotty, they will always get players at the club, very well run, though from what I hear there are a couple still to walk out and with Molan hardly training and running his own show and kelly not very respected after a few selfish things as coach from last year, will be an interesting couple of months leading into the year.

StAlbans have apparently recruited well and are keeping hush, though a couple of big names and some $$$ being spent to get them back to the top, will be right up there.

Hoppers have recruited well also from what I'm being told, a ruckman from the bush a couple from the VFL, also another from EDFL and 2 mid's from the bush, will be back in the finals, no doubt.

Altona have lost there 2 best players in UHI and Miles, though have picked up a couple from VFL and will get there captain back after a year off.

Sunshine have picked up some handy players and will be right up there for a tilt at it, from what I hear a couple of players have returned and with D.Jacobs running around with be a very handy midfield.

Haven't heard much at all from Colt's land, Heights are building from the ground up, Glenordan will be battlers again and Nth Footscray are the unknown.

Well sure theres no comparing 15 GF wins to 4, but you're only as good as your last game!

Re: Western Region FL - Division One - Part 3

Incorrect information!

Bonnici, Turner on clearances board + Hewatt & Watts out of your premiership midfield and Bloomfield (Leading Goalkicker) to SANFL. Also a couple of others yet to commit from last season???

paul harrison to play at albanvale.......

good chance he would play in the midfield and not move from the backline all day, maybe at half time he could drag a couple of brothers, free up the budget and get anthony rock to come and win the game for em too :D

Re: Western Region FL - Division One - Part 3

Bonnici - not cleared
Turnder - not cleared (played reserves anyway)
Hewat - staying
Bloomfield - staying
Watts - ?

even they Bonnici and turner do leave, they have been covered well.

Doing the rounds the other day, noticed Sunny heights ground...........far far far from being ready for round 1, still all soil, and works continuing.
Saw Simon Wiggins training the house down at the Roos, could they be the real deal? Both jacobs, both wiggins???

As far as I'm aware Sunny Heights will be playing home games at a different venue for this season.

As for Bonici and Turner, I think you will find they will not be playing at Albion this year if my mail is correct.

Couple of points lads. Harro finished up at Albion purely because of his real estate work and will obviously now always be known as a Premiership coach at the cattery. Having played under him myself and talking to a few boys at Albion, there is no doubt he is a great speaker and motivator. However his great mate Paul Docherty who has signed at Albanvale has been trying to convince him to play for the Cobras in Div2. Understanding it will be half a season and finals which wont put too much pressure on his work commitments. So Weapons may actually have something.

As far as Heights go, i believe if instant turf (santa ana couch) is layed out in the next 2 weeks then they should be ok to play at home. From memory they play away for their first few as well. If not the case then Brimbank gardens (which i think is the ground ear marked to substitute), does not have any facilities. Makes you wonder if the league themselves are helping out Heights to any extent. And if not will the league compensate the club for possible loss of earnings from canteen, bar etc, If they are forced to play somewhere else. Or Perhaps the league could direct all opposing clubs play games at their own ground for the first half of the year with the second half being all home games for heights.

Not long to go now:thumbsu:

Club7, if the santa ana stuff is the same as the stuff they laid on Soldiers reserve in Werribee, then it going yellow in winter may mean that it is dormant then. It won't take in that case. Big mistake for footy but ideal for bloody cricket in the summer. Just putting it out there, may be way off. Any turf specialists in here?

Exactly the same stuff Filo. And your correct it does go dormant during winter. Key is to not cut it after march (or lift the height of cutters) as it obviously does not grow in the cooler climate. That way when left it will also keep its color for a longer period and take more traffic. Also can be over sewn with Rye grass to help keep its color.
