But that’s not all, there’s more. There are some drastic changes in WWE ’13, the development team has even gone so far as to completely discard the entirety of the ambitious, yet flawed, single-player design from WWE ’12. The game doesn’t forget it roots though, featuring a lot of the core from last year’s game. Matches will still be heavily influenced by momentum, which should force players to use their entire repertoire of moves to get the victory. ‘Breaking Point’ submissions, limb-targeting systems and time-based pinning are all back, but with a few subtle tweaks to improve their functionality and fluidity.

WWE ’13 will introduce context sensitive power moves that will allow you to recreate some of the most spectacular moments in WWE history. These moves can be anything for slams that literally collapse the ring from their impact to ramming a rival through the ring barrier. You can even catch a finisher while in mid-air. The catch to these is that they can only be used by certain wrestlers under a specific set of circumstances. Similar to the “finisher” icon you get when you are ready to hit your opponent with your finishing move, for these power moves you will see the “OMG” logo above your character’s head which ought to tell you that something that is going to make you say those words is about to happen. These moves are no joke and if used at the proper time during a match than can either quickly turn the tide of the match in your favor or end it altogether that instant. Since these aren’t just any moments, they will feature special audio and visuals to highlight their significance.

To further bring the real WWE experience to the game, WWE ’13 will feature a new setting called “Match Experience”. This feature accounts for the fact that depending on the type of program, a regular Monday night show, something on the weekend, or one of the awesome PPV shows, wrestlers only have a certain amount of time to perform. Match Experience can be set to “Quick”, “Normal” or “Epic”. Depending on which one you choose it will affect the overall pacing of a match, regardless of AI difficulty. What this means is that a Quick Match can be over with one powerful move, the combatants just won’t have the “will” to kick out but in an Epic match, well you might as well grab a drink and some snacks and get comfortable because its going to be a while. In these matches, the wrestlers will seem to have unlimited stamina and health. Remember Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker? How about Stone Cold vs Mankind? That’s the kind of epic I’m talking about. As a bonus, these new concept will even find their way into the single player campaign.

Road to Wrestlemania is dead and has been replaced by Attitude Era Mode. This single-player mode is an abridged recreation of a memorable time in sports entertainment, allowing players to journey through various storylines as eight of the most popular superstars of that time, including “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. The chapter-based saga moves through WWE’s struggle and eventual triumph during the so-called “Monday Night Wars,” which saw the company on the brink of defeat at the hands of a powerful rival, WCW. Told from the perspective of the WWE during that period, matches and in-game cutscenes are supplemented by superb video packages assembled by WWE’s own editors. These short vignettes put matches, feuds and larger industry developments into perspective, not only keeping the overall story going, but giving a bit of a history lesson in the process.

Well that’s all the highlights we have for you hear folks, if you want to read the full feature then hop on over to IGN. Make sure you stop to let us know what you think of the rosters and all the new features. Did you see Mike Tyson from the Attitude Era, wonder what he will play like? Hit up the comments and let us know what you think, who should be on the roster that’s not?

Re: Wwe 13'

WWE should make alternate covers like Mass effect 3 one with Punk the other with Johnny.

I guess the attitude logo on the right is for the Attitude roster.

Will defnitely be getting this but it comes out same month as Blops 2.

the cover would be deadset epic either way!

absolutely getting this. i didn't get wwe'12 when i said i might but the roster on this so far is just ridiculously awesome.

assuming reviews are 8ish+ metacritic average i'll be picking this up for sure!

Would love a T-Shirt with that logo maybe that should be a pre-order bonus.

Mike Tyson in the game awwwwshiieeet

dunno about his need to be in though....bit of a gimmick who will basically only punch? (and maybe bite ears :P)

pretty sad that they can't have kurt angle in it...he is one of my all time favs! but it's obvious why he can't be...

also i thought vader was long gone from the wwf before the attitude era?

also i flipping hope attitude era undertaker is ministry undertaker with his old music as that is some of the sweetest entrance music ever!
the american badass was OK (cool music too) but would much prefer ministry taker.

attitude era HHH is pretty awesome too with my time....geez i'm getting pumped already!

**** blops2! :P

LOVE the fact that the Attitude era is in it.... brilliant move and will help move more units with the crowd that were into wrestling during the Attitude era, but may have moved on from wrestling since

exactly!

i mean i still record the wrestling on iq2 and watch it when i can but seeing those stars in it and the memories of the old smackdown titles on ps2 just makes me wanna dive in and have my childhood mates around to play it with junkfood and energy drinks and the like of when i was in my early teens haha :o

Can't get over how sick the cover is,as camo said before it does appeal to wrestling fans where others didn't.

Have only played SvR 08,09 so hoping this is good.

i never got those ones but i'm pretty sure they were pretty terrible.

the earlier smackdowns were the very best!
controls weren't over complicated and it was just awesome arcade/sim type fun.

i think nowadays they try to focus on making it more realistic but to me i'd prefer it the way it was.
in saying that i bought SvR 2011? and thought it was alright so hopefully the gameplay on this one is awesome!

It really sucks that I was born in the later 90's missed out on some great games and some great wrestling.

Attitude Jericho yes! the best jericho

the best jericho (that i saw anyways) was wcw jericho.

deadset one of the most underutilized talents ever! so good in ring and absolutely ridiculous on the mic with the most epic boston crab (lion tamer/walls of jericho) you'd ever see.

just did a lil search then and this was the first one i saw

i don't personally think that's the best he's ever done but he applied it far more brutally every time back then and not the lazy looking one he does today.
(fwiw even mysterio was awesome back in wcw...couldn't/can't stand him in wwe though)

Mate, thats the shit! I just picked up a cheap PS2 and had to buy WWF: Shut Your Mouth!

Epic 2 player career mode, 4 player TLC matches with mates (remember some matches going for an hour due to no one being able to get the belt down)

Please be more like this!

also i thought vader was long gone from the wwf before the attitude era?

He was there for a little while, but definitely wasn't a big player in it.
LOD and Bret Hart are interesting choices too. Hitman left just as Attitude started to take off, and while LOD were around for a lot of it, they were nowhere near big players. Their gimmick was a bit of a joke really.

Bigger Attitude era tag teams could've made it in instead, like the Acolytes & Too Cool. Shame the Hardys and Dudleys couldn't be in either.

Regardless, this game looks like a must buy. Every year i tell myself i won't bother with next year's WWE game, and every year they put something in that i have to have.

WWF Smackdown 2 and Here Come The Pain were my favorites in the Smackdown series, though WWF No Mercy on the N64 is still the best wrestling game ever made imo.

Agreed on all counts.

That's basically me to a tee. Havn't gotten a wrestling game in years but will def pick this up for nolstagias sake.

AGREED! Mates always said Shut Your Mouth was the best, but I always had a soft spot for Here Come's The Pain.

The era of Wrestling games from mid-late N64 to early PS2 was undoubtedly the best. The WCW games were just as brilliant too, only in a different way to the WWF games.

Maybe it was just the time where all your mates were around and you'd spend hours and hours on the games, but they were just so insanely fun.

I remember every month we'd watch the WWE PPV then have our own PPV run through Smackdown.

I've not bought a WWE game for a LONG time now. And nothing has really drawn me in, the roster in this does offer some nostalgia factor. But what's the use if the gameplay is still drab?

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTT!! :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

(mainly talking about taker pic at top here...looks like ministry woooo)
