WWE Smackdown 10/1/08 (Episode 4)
*Due to a Royal Rumble highlight show, episode shortened to 60 minutes*
*The fireworks light up the arena as White Knuckles by Alter Bridge, the theme song for Smackdown, blares over the sound system*
Cole: Good evening everybody and welcome to Smackdown! We're coming to you tonight from Green Bay, and tonight is all about the fallout from the Royal Rumble.
JBL: Spot on Michael, and I can't wait for the show – let's get on with it!
*Burn in my Light by Mercy Drive hits as the new World Heavyweight Champion James Cann makes his way to the ring*
Cann: The James Cann era has begun. With my victory at the Rumble on Sunday, the whole company just changed. The image you see in front of your eyes will become a very familiar one. In the space of three weeks I have taken out ECW original Tommy Dreamer, I have beaten both Sean and Trent Patience in a number one contenders match, and I beat Tristagi with a CKO to become the World Heavyweight Champion. I am better than each and every superstar in the back, and they know it. No-one can beat me, which is why I will be the top dog on Smackdown for a long time. And another thin..
*The music of the former WHC Tristagi hits, and he makes his way to the ring with a mic in hand*
Tristagi: Stop your showboating. I was this close *shows fingers an inch apart* to beating you and ending your supposed 'reign of terror'. You pulled one out of the hat and I know I can beat you. Most importantly, Tristagi will get the chance to beat you and send all these fans happy, because I'm invoking my rematch clause...tonight!
*Here Comes The Money hits as GM Shane McMahon makes his way to the ring*
Shane: Woah, easy on there Tristagi, you don't have the match making power – I do. Why would I give away this match on free T.V? Business sense, my man. So of course, you are entitled to your rematch, but it won't be until No Way Out! It's going to be James Cann v Tristagi in a No Disqualification match! But that's not all, because if you lose Tristagi...you won't get another shot at the World Heavyweight Championship while Cann holds the title. Have a good night!
*McMahon leaves the ring, and as he is leaving the ring Tristagi and Cann stare each other down. All of a sudden Cann goes for the CKO, Tristagi reverses and hits the Tristagi Driver! (Rock Bottom)*
JBL: Wow! Props to Tristagi there, I didn't think he could do that!
Cole: Well, with the main event for No Way Out already settled, we will be seeing some fierce competition between the two superstars, that's for sure.
*Commercial Break*
Cole: Welcome back to Smackdown, and moments ago we witnessed our new WHC being laid out in the ring for the first time, due to a wicked Tristagi Driver. Now, moving on, another match for No Way Out has just been announced. Due to the stipulation just announced for the title match, we need to determine a new number one contender. So at No Way Out it will be Sean v Trent Patience in a Number One Contenders Match!
JBL: There's a reason why Smackdown is the A-show, and it's just been illustrated with two magnificent matches scheduled for No Way Out.
Cole: Absolutely John; now it's time for the first match of the show. (JBL: Finally!) It's going to be Charlie Haas v Chuck Palumbo, with their respective partners at ringside.
Match 1: Charlie Haas w/Shelton Benjamin v Chuck Palumbo w/Johnny Stamboli
Palumbo's strength allows him to overpower Haas from the beginning. Chuck uses his wide variety of power moves to destroy Hass, leaving Benjamin stunned at ringside. Haas repeatedly tries to get back into the match but the face Palumbo stops him at every opportunity. The crowd is enjoying Palumbo destroying Haas, getting his revenge after the title match last week. Benjamin jumps up on the apron and attempts to nail Palumbo with a right hand, but Chuck ducks. Stamboli jumps up onto the apron to complain about Shelton, getting the referee's attention. Shelton slides into the ring with a chair he had just picked up from underneath the ring. He nails Palumbo right in the head with it, knocking him out cold. Haas locks in the Haas of Pain, the referee turns around, sees Palumbo unconscious, and calls for the bell.
Winner: Charlie Haas via submission
Cole: That's ridiculous! Two weeks in a row the FBI has been screwed out of a win!
JBL: Uh Michael, it's been Palumbo both weeks, and last week Haas won with a rollup. Hardly screwed for mine.
*Commercial Break*
Cole: Well, we have word that our main event tonight will be Chris Benoit's 'reveal' of the secret that has been plauging him in recent weeks. Of course, he lost his match at the Royal Rumble, forcing him to tell Eddie Guerrero the secret in public. That's coming up later on. Now, we're going to the back where we believe Trent Patience is standing by.
Patience: At No Way Out, I announce myself as one of the top superstars on Smackdown. The fans love me (*fans cheer*) and they want me to become the new number one contender on Smackdown, which is what I will do. Sean, you better be ready, because...
*Suddenly Sean comes out of nowhere, blind siding Patience with a cheap shot. Trent is out cold as Sean lays the boots into him.*
Sean: I AM THE FUTURE!!!
*Commercial Break*
*As the show comes back from commercial break, the titantron lights up, as sirens blare all over the arena. Just three letters show up, and keep flashing on the screen: B P P*
Cole: Uhh, that was interesting. Ahh, moving on now I guess, we have our 'wrestling' main event coming up and it's between Adman and the Cruiserweight Champion, Rey Mysterio. We have word that Adman is now under the 220 pound limit required to compete in the Cruiserweight division. Our GM has just informed us that if Adman beats Rey in this match, he will receive a title shot in the near future. So let's get on with it!
Match 2: Adman v Rey Mysterio
Adman quickly goes for the Twist of Fate, the move that he defeated Rey with last week. Mysterio easily gets out of it and nails a hurracanrana, gaining the early hand. Adman quickly gets up and the two wrestle at a rapid pace for the next couple of minutes, so much so that the crowd sits in silence, stunned at the high-risk, high-quality wrestling they are witnessing. Adman gains the upper hand with a twisting, jumping spike DDT, planting Rey square on his head. There is a commercial break after that move, and we come back to see Adman still on the offensive. A few replays reveal that during the break, Adman has been working on the lower back area of the crusierweight champion, possibly weakening the area in preparation for the Swanton Bomb. Sure enough he goes up to the top rope and nails it! Adman, surprised at the ease of the match, crawls over and covers Rey, and gets the 3 count!
Winner: Adman
Cole: Wow, what an easy match for Adman! With that win, he earns another shot at Rey, and this time it's for the Cruiserweight Title. On this performance, I'd say Adman has his number.
JBL: I gotta agree with you there Michael, and on this form Adman should be Cruiserweight Champion sooner rather than later.
*Commercial Break*
Cole: Back from commercial break, and it's time for the moment we've waited all night for. It is time for Chris Benoit to reveal the secret which has plagued him for the last few weeks. Chris is already in the ring, and Eddie is making his way in, so let's cross there.
Chris: Hey Eddie, you know I don't want to do this.
Eddie: I know you don't esse, but that was our deal, and you gotta uphold your end of it.
Chris: Alright man, you're gonna wish I didn't say this:........
