Logo nitpicking time. I've always been meaning to get around to this.

Adelaide 1991–96
Differently kerned font, 'TM' in top left corner.

Adelaide 1997–98
Differently kerned font (only slightly, it's most noticeable in the gap between the 'O' and 'W'), 'TM' in top left corner.

Adelaide 2010–present
Colours are less vibrant; the differentiation between the two blues is a lot greater than what you have. A direct link to a vector download is here.

Brisbane 1997–99 (not 1997–2001)
'Lions' font is shorter/bolder (the outlines are overlapping) and pushed up further towards the 'Brisbane' text. 'Australian Football Club' is missing. The maroon is also more purple / less brown, and the gold is slightly more orange.

Brisbane 2000 (doesn't currently exist on the site; use this for your trace of the correct fonts)
Same as the previous logo but replaces the old AFL shield with the new AFL oval.

Brisbane 2001–09 (not 2002–09)
This logo was used from 2001 onwards, not 2002. I think this is simply a mistake on the site as the file name has '2001' in it.

Fremantle (1995–96)
'Dockers' font is different, more square and collegiate-style with tighter kerning. 'Fremantle' font is wider and bolder. 'TM' in the corner below the shield.

Fremantle (2011–12) (doesn't currently exist on the site)
This shield-less version was the primary logo for the first two seasons, while the shield on its own (without the text) was an alternate. You can download a vector of this logo by extracting from the attached PDF.

Fremantle (2013–present) (not 2011–present)
This was brought in as the primary in 2013 after previously being an alternate.

Footscray (1995–96)
The colours are off, and should be darker. It actually looks like you had it right previously. Also, the bulldog shouldn't be transparent.

Western Bulldogs (1997–98)
Again, colours are a bit off. Here's also a bigger version of the old-school logo which you can trace — no more wobbly bottoms of the S and B.

Western Bulldogs (1999–2012) (not 1999–2014)
The bulldog is transparent in your current version, whereas it was actually white. On dark backgrounds the oval had a thick white border, although that doesn't matter for this version.

Western Bulldogs (2013–2014) (not currently on site)
This one has gone missing by just about everyone, ever, but the Dogs actually dropped the wordmark for the final two years of Robodog. The wordmark was already being phased about across the club website since around 2009, but still existed in other brand applications where you might see it used, in a similar fashion to what Carlton was doing with its wordmark at the time.

E3_TEa4VkAIMU0u.jpg

The way to double-check this changeover period – apart from the fact that the Dogs dropped the wordmark from their FB Facebook page in March 2013 – is to look at the logos used on the AFL Team Coach footy cards for each year.

2012 had the wordmark...
s-l1200.webp

2013 did not.
2013TeamcoachBF18.jpg

This is also evident for the Fremantle logo change I documented above too.

2012 had the paperclip logo on its own (albeit the dark background variant)...
s-l400.jpg

But from 2013, the shield logo was in place.

Geelong (2008–2015) (not 2008–present)
When Geelong brought out their two new logos for 2008, the off-field logo was textured (much like the 2011–18 GC Suns logo and 2011–15 Melbourne logo). The non-textured version was mostly only used when a two-colour version was required.

Here is the glossy version being used right up until 2015...

And then gone in 2016.

Screenshot 2024-01-22 17.35.56.png

Gold Coast (2011–18)
This one is pretty easy. The Gold Coast 'rays' logo was never seen in a flat version, at least publicly. One can guess the fact it was so unwieldy (and almost impossible to render in vector) was the reason why it was officially phased out for the flat version ahead of 2019. The flat version was simply an alternate up until this time.

Greater Western Sydney (2012–present)
This one has, unfortunately, never been correct on the site.

GWS-logo-2012.gif

I remember up until a few years ago that on FJ.com the above logo was rendered in charcoal. And yes, that was the club's official logo in 2011, when they competed in the NAB Cup as essentially an underage team.

Screenshot 2024-01-22 15.49.05.png

But by their AFL debut in 2012, the 'Greater Western Sydney' descriptor had been dropped from the logo entirely.

All logos should be updated.
To be pedantic, on the Geelong logo, you're missing that very prominent white shading on the top of the logo, and then that shadow at the bottom of the shield, above the 'CATS' wordmark. The 'CATS' wordmark also needs a 3D bevel effect on it :)

pretty cool to see these up on the site, thanks Mero!

The 2011-12 Dockers logo needs a bit of work though; the anchor is a fair bit smaller in comparison to the text – it’s not the same scale and dimensions as the shield logo. The vector in the footy record will be spot on.

Sponsors need to be added to all jumpers on Port Adelaide pages except season by season.

I also noticed different collars and slightly darker shades of teal when comparing the season by season page with the others, beginning from 2007 onwards and also the 2002 teal clash. I will cover those more in detail when I can be bothered going through them all, as well as some slight number differences. Some examples are the 2017 PS and the 2009 Clash

Also the Indigenous page is missing the 2013 jumper and the Pre season page is missing 2010 - 2014

Adelaide Crows Season by Season page for 2002 shows their home jumper as manufactured by Russell Athletic. On the home page its showing the FILA design which they also used for 2001

Also do you plan on moving the 2009-2011 heritage jumpers from the one off / promo page to the heritage page? I thought these were missing before finding them

Here's where I am up to.
I have had some help with the designs, and I also have help from someone who edits every single design for every year for accuracy.
This means one or both of us goes onto AFLPhotos, finds a pic of front and back of every jumper worn, then compares it to what is on the site. If incorrect in any way, it gets changed.
Right now I am editing the Brisbane jumpers, and have completed Home & Away, but I am still getting to the other categories.
This means GWS, Gold Coast, Adelaide & Western Bulldogs are done.

Port did wear two shades of Teal. From 1997 they wore PMS 320, and from 2000 they wore PMS 3215
In older versions of the jumpers I have made some of them in CMYK (printing) format, where as from now on I am only doing them in RGB (for phones and monitors). In some cases this is because I have official print ready files from the manufacturers.
These will all be corrected once the editing is done.

Bulldogs 2000/2001 pre-season, the front Vodafone sponsor had a transparent background (or perhaps more likely, the red of the vodafone sponsor matched the red of the guernsey on both front and back).

Both guernseys are also missing the FILA 'change the game' jock tag, which was almost always on the right hand side of the jumper...

But occasionally on the left. This last image is interesting for two reasons: the player on the left is wearing a 2000/01 jumper with the jock tag on the left (rare), and the player on the right is wearing a 1999 jumper without a front sponsor with one of those oversized AFL logos stitched over the top of the old shield logo.

Bulldogs 2002 (what a page btw) has a couple of issues on the pre-season jumpers, missing the FILA jock tag, and the gradient effect is much more pronounced – essentially creating a sky blue ring, particularly prominent on the back of the jumper.

Bulldogs 2021 – a bit hard to see (which is obviously the reason why it was changed!) – but the Yellow Pedigree logo had what I am describing as the midway font, not the older one you have.

All the guernseys throughout 2021 and 2022 should also have the 'midway' font too rather than the newer font you have.

It wasn't until 2023 when they changed to the new typeface.

Bulldogs jumpers should now all be updated.
The 2002 to the best of my ability though there will always be a difference between printed jumpers and what I can do in the RGB space to represent them.

Gold Coast logo?
should be updated.
Honestly, all I did was copy the png and re-size it on the little logo template graphic so it had a white background and was the same size as all the others.

For the first time I can remember I am about to take out a bunch of jumpers that had been listed, and I have now come to understand no longer meet the criteria for inclusion on the website.
I have said all along that jumpers worn in official games are included.
These are official games that count towards a players game count.
Practice matches, Promotional games, Exhibition games are not included for that reason.
From 2018, the Pre-Season games have not been part of that criteria.

And so, over next weekend, the following jumpers will be removed from the website.
Adel - 2020
Geel - 2018-19 / 2020 / 2021
GWS - 2021
Hww - 2022
PA - 2020 / 2022
Rich - 2018 / 2019 / 2020-21 / 2022
Syd - 2020

PS no longer games.png
