Hey,

I'm having my first experience with ticketmaster.com.au through trying to buy tickets for the Crows Pies game at the G.

Ideally I'm trying to get tickets which will be on the second level of the Ponsford stand and if not this 2nd level of any of the stands however everytime I attempt to purchase seats I'm allocated seats somewhere on level 1.

Does this mean all the level 2 seats are sold out? Or is there some kind of clever Internet trick I can use to get around this?

And if not, if I rang up ticketmaster would they be able to allocate me tickets on level 2?

I think tickets to the games arent available to the public until 12 days before the game (ie. tickets for Brisbane game went on sale to the public last Tuesday for the game this Saturday). The only tickets available now are probably the premium ones - really expensive.

For most events when I book tickets interstate or even in Adelaide the internet is by far the best way to go.

However, when you are booking tix for the MCG or the Dome I would recommend ringing because there are so many different categories and areas at the Melbourne grounds it is incredibly confusing and you always seem to get dud seats off the net (I do anyway).

Generally with the MCG they have big chuncks of general admission seating available. Considering they should have the ponsford stand, I would expect the olympic stand to be open (assuming all levels too) for general admission. They release more specific ticket information on the MCG website closer to the game.

seat allocations are controlled by a ticketmaster algorythm.
it does not mean that this is all there is, just that is what it's going to offer you.

trying ringing them, and you might be ok. though sometimes they just use the same web interface as you do.

The internet allocate on a "best available" process if you ring you can buy tickets where ever you like provided that they are available for sale. On the net you have to settle for whatever the site deems as best available in each price group. While this usually works well for concerts it doesnt for large sporting events. So I usually phone because I have had much better luck in the past getting tickets where I want them rather than through the net in the past.

The other choice is to go to a ticketmaster outlet there are 2 which I know of upstairs in Rebel Sport in the mall or at Marion and buy the tickets directly from there.
