What do people think of the top 12

Guy has made some interesting choices with his top 3 for the under 25 guys.

He's made the right call with Johnny and Reece but I would have had Trent in instead of Declan.

Ronan's made the right call with the top 3 - especially with sending Up Front home (I don't think the show would have survived if they got through and won - would have been Altiyan all over again). I reckon Audio Vixen would be a good chance of winning.

5 of Mel B's top 6 could have made it to top 3. That would have been tough for Mel B and Mel C to get that down to 3, but I think they've done a good job picking the top 3 under 25 girls.

Natalie had a tough job picking the top 3 over 25's, as they all could have gone through and done well. It didn't matter who she picked she will have 3 strong contestants.

So all up, what looked like a quite mediocre audition process a strong top 12 has emerged. Declan's IMO is probably the weakest, but still has the potential to do quite well in the live shows. Going to be a great set of live shows the next few weeks.

I thought 10 of the 12 choices were correct, with Johnny Ruffo and the nut salesman being the exception. Ruffo can't sing! Guy's once again shown that he struggles to pick out talent. He even admitted that Ruffo's performance on Wednesday night was terrible. I would've picked Josh Brookes, Mali or nearly anyone else ahead of him.

I also don't understand Nat's rationale for putting in the nut salesman ahead of Marina. She doesn't think Marina will sell records but the nut salesman will? She's 100 times the singer he is, and his rendition of the Coldplay song was cringeworthy.

Other than those two, I think the right choices were made. Reece seems the strongest so far, but there are some other strong talents in there. Oh and there's one difference between Altiyan and Upfront - Altiyan could actually sing, the only problem with him was he continually forgot the lyrics at the audition stage. Upfront legitimately can't sing!

I agree with what has been said about the nut salesman getting the nod over Marina. I would have picked Marina over him, but I don't think he's that bad. The over 25's were outstanding and someone was going to be very unlucky to miss out - Marina was very unlucky.

As for the under 25 guys - I would have had Trent in instead of Declan. Trent was incredibly unlucky to miss out.

Who do people think will win. I reckon it will be one of Reece or Audio Vixen.

I would have picked Trent over Johnny.

I'd have also picked Paige and Pamela over Cleo and Andrew.

Those are the only three changes I'd have made.

As far as winning it.... Three Wishez.

What did people think of the first live show.

I think Natalie has put in an absolute shocker with the over 25's. All 3 were very ordinary. Also, the way she handled the criticism by the other judges was disgraceful yelling and hooting over the top of them. She can bury her head in the sand and claim they were better than they really were but the public will determine otherwise.

Guy had mixed results with his under 25 guys. Reece was outstanding and made a perfect start to the live shows. Johnny was abysmal and one has to wonder why Guy put him through instead of Trent. Declan was the surprise packet. I expected him to struggle but he put in an entertaining performance.

Mel B was the same with the under 25 girls. Christina was closest anyone got to Reece tonight, while Jacqui was also very good. Tyla was very ordinary.

Ronan and the groups were the most consistent out of the categories tonight. All three were good without being great.

If this were Eurovision, here's how I'd cast my votes Eurovision style

12 votes: Reece
10 votes: Christina
8 votes: Declan
7 votes: Jacqui
6 votes: Young Men Society
5 votes: Audio Vixen
4 votes: Three Wishez
3 votes: Tyla
2 votes: Andrew
1 vote: Cleo

Which makes my bottom 2
Mitchell
Johnny

Before last night's live performances, Three Wishez were my front runners and favourites in the competition. Their performance was good, but they have fallen down one rung to find themselves in second position on my performance scale.

The act that has overtaken them and a few others is another group, Young Men Society. I love their image, their style and, most importantly, their music. Despite some controversial decisions made by Ronan to date, he must be applauded for mentoring both Young Men Society and Three Wishez.

Here's how I rate them.

1) Young Men Society
2) Three Wishez
3) Rheece
4) Christina
5) Declan
6) Andrew
7) Audio Vixen
8) Jaqui
9) Tyler
10) Cleo
11) Mitchell
12) Johnny

Cannot stand Johnny's music despite seemingly being a top Aussie bloke. I wouldn't pay to see him perform, but I'd happily shout him a few beers. I too was amazed and disappointed that Guy took him over Trent (whom I rated only behind Reece for the U25 boys).

I also thought Nat should have put Paige through instead of Mitchell, and I was disappointed that Mel B put Tyler through ahead of Chantelle.

Before boot camp started, the performer I rated equal with Three Wishez was Jacqui. She left a massive impression on me instantly, but I'm now not sure if that's because of her early performances, or because she seems like the type of girl I'd love to take home to my Mum.

I would have to agree that Ronan is the leading candidate at the moment to win the competition with two exceptional groups, plus Audio Vixen, whom I believe to have the best vocalist remaining in the competition. If only they could work to their strengths and provide more consistency, it's quite possible they could easily win the competition.

Had Guy welcomed Trent to his top three instead of Johnny, he'd have three of my favourite six contenders.

Much like last year, unless someone shacks up with a 14 year old they met on Facebook, or they find themselves caught up in the middle of a SOG drug raid, if we are being honest you have to say that within 12 months (absolute max), you would have to put the likelihood of us still hearing from any of the contestants performing on this latest series as being highly, highly unlikely.

They might not be everyones cup of tea, but if you compare Guy Sebastian, Shannon Noll, Damien Leith, Mauboy etc to any of this latest crop....im afraid the contrast couldnt be much more stuck.

God knows how thin the talent pool will be by the time we see 'The Voice'.

Tend to agree, given that no one from last year actually made a name for themselves musically and usually the best quality from these shows are from the first season (Bardot - Popstars and Guy - Idol).

Imagine how thin the talent pool will be for YTT!

Funny you should say that.

I said last night that the opening song looked like YTT, what with Andrew/Johnny Young singing along with all the kiddly winks....

:p

I know our pollies are busy trying to stop the boats etc, but IMO there is a desperate and urgent need for some kind of law to be enacted preventing the performance of Adele material on televised singing competitions.

Enough is enough.

Adele is the only one wo can sing her songs. No one else can

And surely to a man and a women, society is over exposed to Adele's work enough as it is (ala Kings of Leon before her), without us having to hear her provide 'boot camp' songs for a pack of no talent whackjobs to take turns at arse raping on X Factor.

Dont get the big deal over Reece to be honest.

Emo Barnsey with undescended testicles is the best way I can describe him.

I has to be the fat chick. Maybe I hold prejudice against her. I just think they are boring act to watch.

It was her crying when they got selected into the final three groups that did my head in.
