But basically it is all stuff that is on the PS3 now, for a cost of zero as opposed to the XBL payed membership.

Everything i've mentioned there, that is, improvements of the NXE update, are available to every single xbox 360 owner for nothing.

The burning to disc thing is for people without a broadband connection, any 360 plugged into a broadband connection will automatically download the updates, and subsequently reap all the benefits. At no charge.

KP is good for a laugh, whats even funnier is that you truly believe these things.

Do some research mate:thumbsu:

Yeah but at the end of the day your original statement was 100% wrong.

Like pretty much every post HBK makes about the 360 is 100% wrong?

lol.

How's cross game invites going? Voice messaging? Custom soundtracks? Trophies aren't universal. If you're subscribing to KP's views, you're dumber than I thought.
Cross game invites - Never even needed a feature like this before, if I want to go into another game I simply put it in the PS3 and go in, and get the invite from there, simple.

Voice messaging - Don't really know what this consists of, but HOME basically has this and more, plus the chat function has voice chat too.

Custom Soundtracks - Well I don't know about you, but the majority of the time, the games soundtrack is perfectly fine for me, otherwise I have this thing called an iPod(Or even my laptop) and that can play music just fine, honestly though, I thought this feature was an absolute must have for the PSN, but I really haven't felt the need for it, many games now have soundtracks that are styled for the game they are in, and only some games would really need the custom soundtracking IMO.

Trophies might not be universal, but pretty much every game coming out now is incorporating it due to how easy it is to incorporate.:thumbsu:

But at the end of the day PSN vs XBL comes down to the online gaming, a feature that is only free on the PSN, not XBL and that is what makes PSN>XBL, because a few little features that you might not even use really don't make it worth paying a yearly fee to play against others online.

Can you really justify it?

You know, I was doing some advanced mathematical equations and worked out that if you were to pay 80$ for a 12 month membership (this being the highest I have seen it sell for at stores, usually it is much less), it would only cost about 20 cents per day.

That 12 months is less than most newly released video games, yet xbox live will greatly improve the experience of every game in your collection.

Yeah, but it is still $80 a year for as long as you want it, compared to $0 ever for the PSN, I know which one I would want.

It is people like you who give Microsoft the reason to keep charging for it(With the "Oh it's only 20c a day" forgetting that you already pay to use the internet), what makes it so damn good?

You see...this is your issue HBK, and it comes up repeatedly.

You have never ever played anything on XBL, you have no idea how it works, you have no idea of its features and how simple and streamlined to do everything compared to the PSN network.

This is repeatedly highlighted with the naivity of any xbox related post you make

When you do...you will realise the value.

Thing is, PSN could incorporate most of the xbl features with a small investment of cash, but its obviously not high on sonys list at the mo given the unprofitablity of the ps3.

And this is what constantly spouts from XBL users, it is so simple and streamlined, but they never actually say what any of the features that makes it so good are.

And the one feature that you would think could be eliminated, lag, is still evident!

BTW you do realise that is a contradiction, I have played a game on XBL, I have played Halo 3, sure it wasn't for a prolonged period of time, but I did play it.

But you say I haven't played the XBL so I have no idea how it works and makes it so good, but vice versa as you haven't played the PSN for a fair period of time to really determine how good one is over the other.

Just because I don't own a 360, doesn't mean I haven't played one.

I have a pretty subpar intenet connection and usually have trouble finding lag-free games when playing PC games.

However, I don't think I've ever experienced lag to any severe extent whilst playing xbox live.

Well people keep telling you but you just keep dismissing them.

The universal friends list, cross game invites, superior marketplace.

You'd see this if you played xbl...but you probably never will(to any degree, your obvious naivity of the system is plain to see with your constant errors), so who cares?

It's great that you care about us paying our subscritions, that its so unjust etc. But if it wasn't worth it i wouldnt pay it.

It is tho, so i do.

And yes, i had a ps3 for about 2 months during which i played a heap of Fom and Vegas. Told me everything i needed to know about the difference between the 2 networks.

That said, the fact is, i don't need to justify anything. I'm not the one in the ps3 news thread bagging psn, a subject i'm hardly an authority on.

I wouldnt like to look stupid, talking about something i didnt know enough about to act like an authority on the subject.

I've already answered about the cross game invites though, the simple fact is, that it is easier to send someone a message telling them to come into your game, as most of the time they are still going to have to exit their current game, put the disc in, and then join the game, it is just a tiny bit more functional, but it doesn't really add a whole lot to the experience, and certainly not worth paying for.

And still at the end of the day it all comes down the the online gaming, not invites, but the gaming.

Because it hasn't changed since then?

You're doing the EXACT same thing your accusing me of.

I find it funny that the Sony fanboys are deriding microsoft for charging for online when the xbox is up to 300 dollars cheaper the PS3.

Thats why I chose microsoft over sony this gen even though I hate the company with a passion.

They have given you choice at the right price.

I just want to play videogames...I have maybe 1/2 hr to 1 hr a day to play home console videogames... if I'm lucky.

I don't have enough time for online this gen but if I ever get the urge to become a halo xbot, I can subscribe to xbox live gold.

They're not forcing you to do anything...... unlike the PS3 with its tacked on bluray drive...

*in stephen colbert voice*

"oh blurayyyyyyyy (as a videogame format)!!!! I so hate you"

Wouldnt that mean the ps3 has a constant value whilst the 360s can vary based on XBL memberships and console types?

its all about choice mate

If I'm a consumer making a decision between the two consoles, I'll just factor the XB live gold subscription costs into the price when making the choice.

online is not so important for me this gen so I don't need to add the 50-80 dollar yearly cost to the price of the console.

its like buying a car ....... xbox gives you the choice of optional extras.

PS3 is the model that forces you to get the built-in hifi system and seat massager for a heap more moolah.

I just want to buy a car that drives damnit >,<

kk well imo its really a mandatory feature of a nextgen console

because in most cases it makes the game
such as CoD4 and WaW and other FPS'

Thats fair enough....... the PS3 seems like better value to you.

However according to sales data on xbox sales this holidays...

since the price cut....... about half their sales are for the base xbox arcade model with no hard drive.

The consumer has spoken loud and clear.

I think that is pretty true as well, we all know the focus in gaming now is heavily favouring the online side, as it keeps the game going and gives it way more longevity, therefore the PSN>XBL.:)

And once the PS3's price cut hits, it will mean that about 2 years worth of XBL will be the difference in price.

That doesn't mean that the 'consumer' knows that you can't play online without a HDD though does it?

Well to be fair, even though Australian figures'll probably be the same

they are AMERICAN figures (refering to NPD thread)

yeah, games like LBP make use of this,

this probably hasnt been done on 360 because it would be discrimination to non xbl users

thats just plain wrong.

You can still play online....... the arcade model either has

1) a memory card to hold your gamer tag

2) built in flash memory to hold your gamer tag. (Jasper)

It might not be as flashy as the more upmarket models with the DLC and extra maps ....but it still works.

also IIRC you can get a 20gig harddrive from microsoft for like 30 bucks

yeah, but you can only get any hard data from the american and japanese markets.

very annoying for a sales nut like me :)

(maybe every six months the GFK data tracking service will let out what the situation is in the australian market)

Alot of games will not work without the HDD(eg: Burnout: Paradise), so it isn't just plain wrong.

And should they want to install games, they will need to purchase one, then if they want XBL, that pretty much makes up the price difference between the 360 and PS3.
