Hey guys i've been toying with the idea of getting my xbox modded.

Has anyone had this done to theirs and wish to share words of wisdom??

is it worth getting it down and can you work on windows or linux okay when being displayed through a TV rather than a monitor?

i've got 2 xbox's, one with a mod chip and one for xbox live.

the mod chip is good if you want to be able to play games from all regions, and it lets you play copied games as well. you can also watch dvd's without the dvd dongle and remote with a mod chip.
not sure about the windows and linux stuff, doesn't interest me.

some people claim to run their modded xbox with a switch over xbox live, but i also know people who have been banned for using their modded xbox on xbox live. thats why i've got two xbox's. so it doesn't matter.

PC is still the king of online gaming :p

pc is good for fps and strategy games no doubt. farcry and unreal tournament 2004 are awesome, especially UT2004 online. The online strategy games like Warcraft 3, Rise of Nations, Age of Mythology 0wn on pc.

the consoles do it better for sports games and racing games. online ESPN NHL and ESPN NFL are awesome. Project Gotham Racing 2 is the best online racing game available.

its better playing racing games on a console than a PC just coz its more fun using a gamepad than a keyboard

whether its online or not its still funner

sports games.....dunno....i havnt had a console since i sold my ps2 which had afl 99 and shane warne cricket

also strategy games are virtually impossible to play on consoles whether it be oinline or not... unless you have a console mouse AND keyboard

My XBOX is modded... its awesome.

With mine if you just tape the power button the normal x box system runs, but if you hold onto the button the mod kicks in. Im pretty sure your able to still play XBOX live, but only with original games.

Confirmation, please.

Everything I've read has indicated that Xbox Live bans anybody with modified hardware on their Xbox - but that's all coming from American gaming sites, so it's possible that the ban is not active in Australia - but if you're just spinning ****, you are potentially doing real ****ing damage to somebody's $300-odd piece of hardware.

I have been lead to believe that as long as you have a modchip that turns off, you can play original X-box games on X-box live. I think some of the problems people have had with xbox live is when they have either:
1) Tried to play pirated games on it.
2) Left their modchip on
3) Replaced their harddrive (the harddrive must be locked)

Either way just have a look on google for info about xbox live with mods and make up your own mind. There are enough people who have been screwed over to give you info on how to avoid being banned from it.

Its what ive been lead to believe, but ring up a game store or whatever or even microsoft. Alot of the guys in the paper that do the modchips are fairly honest guys, they helped me out alot so you should contact a few of them.
