Xenforo & Hosting Sites for Forums

Hi all,

I'm looking at starting an online forum in relation to the line of work I'm in. There's multiple Facebook groups which creates loads of discussion but I'd like to centralise this into one forum much like BigFooty.

I'm looking to use Xenforo and am after some advice in regards to hosting the forum site and whether I should be looking to host in Australia or offshore. Looking at pricing it seems offshore may be the way to go.

If anyone has some advice on specs and/or hosting sites I can look at that would be great. A couple I've seen include hawkhost and fxhosting but I'm looking for some direction.

Will start of very basic and build it, I've built a Xenforo forum using their trial login but any help would be great.

Chief - anyone within BF admin able to talk me out of this?

Although, BF's hosting is on AWS but that might not be the best for you if you don't know much about it.

I have not hosted a site on a retail web host in yonks so I don't know what is out there sorry.

Thanks - I've got a few pointers from Whirlpool and looking at URLJET which is a little more pricey but provides direct Xenforo support which I'll need

There are numerous discussions on this subject at the forums on xenforo.com. With the current cost of VPS's you really shouldn't be paying much
