I've been Googling for a solution to this problem without any success, so I thought I'd try my luck here.

I'm running Windows XP on a pc with 2 hard drives. I changed the location of the pagefile from the C: (primary) hard drive to the G: (secondary) hard drive quite a while ago.

Now, the problem I have is that whenever I boot up the pc with a USB thumb drive inserted, the "old" pagefile that was originally located on the C: drive mysteriously reappears. I have checked and rechecked the settings for the pagefile, and "no paging file" for drive C: is definitely set. The pagefile on drive G: is also still present whenever the "old" page file reappears.

A bit more info: I'm running a program called eBoostr which basically allows you to mimic Vista's ReadyBoost, so I'd prefer not to have to disconnect my USB thumb drive every time I want to fire up the pc (just to clarify, this problem was occurring well before I started using eBoostr). It's a Pentium 4 2.6 GHz with 3GB of RAM.

Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers.

I haven't done this before but this is what I would try.

Take the USB key out before booting. Reboot PC. Change pagefile to C: directory. Reboot the PC. Check if pagefile system is on C:. Shut down PC, insert USB drive and start PC. Reset your pagefile to the non-system drive. Reboot PC. Check if pagefile is on the drive you specified.

I hope this helps you out.

Thanks Hawka. I'll give it a try.

Err... did you actually read my post? ;)
Yes I did...
Correct me if I'm wrong but if you are even thinking about altering your Virtual Memory size/location, you must be having memory issues.

You are doing yourself a greater favour by increasing your memory size.

If I have misunderstood however, then my bad....:o
