PS4 Yakuza 6

World wide release is tomorrow, anyone picking it up? Since the Japanese release in December last year it is sitting with a tidy 83% on Metacritic.

One of my favourite series, such a shame it will be lost in the GoW hype. Will definitely jump on at some point just not at launch.

I've been meaning to play Yakuza Zero since I've heard so many good things about the series. It just got lost in that early 2017 avalanche of great games.

So I'm curious about this one as well, but it's basically suicide launching this close to GOW in terms of capturing wider interest.

I didn’t realise how much stuff I have to trade in. Provided my EB ordered enough copies I’ll pick this up when I get GoW, just not sure when I’ll get around to playing it.

Last year's Yakuza 0 is the best place to start as it is a prequel to the entire series. From there it gets a bit confusing:

Yakuza 0
Yakuza Kiwami (released last year, a remake of the original PS2 game)
Yakuza Kiwami 2 (remake of the second game due in August)
Yakuza 3,4 & 5 (only available on PS3 at the moment)
Yakuza 6

Yakuza 6 does have a recap feature for every previous game so you wouldn't necessarily be missing out on anything if you jumped straight in, but 0 is fantastic so I highly recommend starting there.

Definitely play Yakuza 0.

I'd say it's the most underappreciated game of last year, it's got a great story, amazing characters and some bonkers side-quests.
I prefer it to GTA given the smaller world and more focused gameplay.

Yakuza is awesome, prefer it to GTA as well.
