It's a shame. The Caulfield Stakes is always a small field.

Will be a pretty boring old affair unfortunately. Miss F just winning and then a pack of horses 'hopefully' running on.

Needed at least one other crack WFA performer to make it at least some sort of race.
 
Actually, on second thought it may not turn out to be as predictable as I first thought. Maldivian & Rubiscent may decide to give each other a decent test in front and break the field up a bit. As we saw in the Underwood, there is always a danger then that one of them will just keep going.

I do expect that the boom that was placed on Maldivian after his JRA win will be lowered a bit after Saturday. Not saying he will run badly, but I think we will get to see that the Moonee Valley race was very flattering. Probably a 3 length win to Miss F, under a fairly good hold.
 
Very ordinary field for a group 1. If she cant win this then Miss Finland should be sent off to the breeding barn immediately.
 
I cant remember a weaker Gp 1?
Im sure if she doesnt win it will be the wet tracks fault........

Honestly,she's $2.4 in the Cox Plate,she'd wanna be winning this.

when the adelaide and brisbane cups were gr1 they were pretty poor!!

i like brom felinity at odds, even tho she doesnt get in well at the weights...

btw, great last furlong by maybe better, sectional would be faster than mf and was getting home stronger than any other.

They certainly should. As I, seth and a few others have said from the outset, he is nowhere near the champion people have been trying to make her out to be. She wont win the Cox Plate. The Melbourne Cup is pure fantasy-land stuff. Really her only chance at a group 1 this campaign is the Mackinnon Stakes when she'd be taking on a bunch of two mile walkers in their final Melb Cup hitout.

Well then we are quickly running out of runners that can win it.

If MF cannot win it, Haradasun sure as hell can't as he isn't even close to being as good as MF.
ES seems to hit a wall after about three runs, so i imagine he can't win it.
No one on here (except for probably me) seems to think Efficeint is a chance at all.
Marasco sure as hell can't run that far, and only Starz would be on Zipping.

So atm is it only a race between Devil Moon and Maldivian?
 
Miss Finland is seriously overated. Not as good as what it is rated, especially not to be $1.30 starter.

btw Efficient is a good thing for the Melbourne Cup :)
 
Nothing wrong with Miss Finland today. You lot just cannot accept that Maldivian is the real deal and that good. His JRA win was phenominal and so was his win today. Miss Finland will back up in the Cox Plate just fine and with a more hectic speed in front she is still going to be formidable opposition, although i personally would not put 1 cent on her.

btw , 10 dollars says Efficient is a dud.. Hasn't even run a place since it's Vic Derby win. I will personally be laying Efficient the place in anything it runs in. :)

Ron,you are quite correct,there was "nothing wrong" with her effort.

Im still flabergasted by Hayes' Dulcify comparison.
Yes she was a champion 3yo,no-one's doubting that.
Dulcify was a champion full stop,at 3 & beyond.
He didnt have a flat spot,he had the ability to accelerate off any pace.
Like 99% of all champion,thats what makes them special.
It helps them find a way to win....even when they shouldnt.

Beating up your own age means little if you cant take the step up.

She's $2.50 in Australia's best race coming off 2 defeats.
Maldivian is flying but how could anyone be confident she could win a Cox Plate the way she races?

Not many Cox Plates are won by grinders,she's a fighter but champion.
Not for mine....not yet anyway.

If you are making your El Segundo comment based on the Turbull then I would rethink that. That race is totally irrelvant as a form tool. Infact, the entire meeting was. He's on track and still the one to beat.

Any one of 6 or 7 horses coud win the plate without surprising too much. Miss Finland will not be the one though.
 
I don't think we can take anything Hayes says after a race too seriously.

He looked pretty damned disappointed to me but he isn't going to say that Miss Finland is a dud so he says it was a good Melbourne Cup run.
I found that comment extraordinary considering the Cox Plate is the race that she was set for.

He was upset by her bad run and was looking for a positive spin.

As for comparisons to Dulcify I hope your joking Seth.:confused:

Dulcify is one of the best I've seen. An absolute champion.
Actually i seem to recall Colin Hayes quoting it as his favorite horse.
I think there is a huge gap between the two.
Actually it isn't even worth talking about.
Miss Finland isn't even in the same class.

After MF's 1st up win,he said she was
"the best 3yo they'd had,right up there with Dulcify"

You'd hope he is regretting that early call.
What did she win in open class at 3? Nothing!
CS must have turned in his grave to hear that from his son.
