you saying that Thornton were lucky and Alex should have won by more????

Nah not at all.

Your thoughts on whether Sharp, Haden and McLean will come back in???

It's not my position to tell you that even if I knew. I doubt Pup even knows until they've had training tonight.

As a teaser of the 3 you mention, one told me he's right for this week. Another one's father told me yesterday that his son won't line up. Don't have a clue about the third one...he probably doesn't have a clue himself. :D

If so who would miss out???

I'll wait and see when they run out on Saturday arvo.

Go Boners.

Yeah will be a very interesting game rosy one which I think the boners might win up there at Boner Park hopefully all players are fit and ready as Emerald will run the game right out. Wanted to see this game but my mate whos driving from pakky doesn't want to go that far so we'll go and see if Selkrig can get the ton against Alex. Good luck and I hope the boners do the right thing and win this week

The G/F div 2 is at Woori div 1 is at Gembrook

Absolute disgrace if this is true, Gembrook, bloody Gembrook is that the best ground the league can come up with. How can that ground host the biggest day on the leagues calander. The ground is shocking on the ankles and knees with pot holes everywhere, it has no atmosphere and on a slightly windy day it blows a gail across the ground. It will be an embarassment on the league if Gembrook host it, sorry to say.

Finals should be played on grounds in the respective divisions and where possible on the provisio that they are of an acceptable standard (facilities and ground ) shared amongst the clubs of that division, thereby in turn each club has a fair chance of revenue raising and thus creates a partnership with the league rather than big brother dictating terms.
No doubt in Div 2 Yea and Alex have suitable facilities as well as many other grounds in the Mountain district and geographically finals should be evenly based amongst all sides, likewise Division 1 the leagues promotes Healsville and Gembrook as showcases grounds other clubs may have different opiniopns.
On a final note i do support the promotion of Div 2 preimer to Div 1 and should Olinda Ferny Creek return to div 2 it should go along way to restore the travel balance for some clubs

Gembrook is a joke nothing more and nothing less. Talk about insider trading this is it. No independent person could possibly put up a sain argument for the use of Gembrooks ground for a final let alone a Grand Final. The playing surface is a disgrace the wind blows on the the most still days any where else. What a joke our league is becoming.

Looks like 2nd Div got the pick of the grounds to me. Gembrook is not the place for mine to showcase the leagues most important game of the season. Like everyone else has stated it is to reliant on very still weather or else it blows a gail and can ruin any game let alone the Grand Final.

I agree that preference should be given for the Grand Final to grounds that can house Netball at the same venue as the netball is the future for growth in the League and makes for a better atmosphere, l suspect that could be the main reason Y/Junction got 2 finals, as the ground wouldnt be!

If clubs do not put in for finals then it doesnt matter if they have the best ground conditions or the best facilities the finals will not be held there. On the point that 1st Div & 2nd Div should play on grounds in their Div for finals might be a little hard to cop in an Elimination final if your team is playing the opposition at their home ground and you lose by less than a goal or two.

The final allocation defies belief, club delegates should be alarmed, ithis competition does not appear to follow any logic, 6 grounds have been selected out of 18
Surely the leagues could have shared it around. How do you derive that Worri Yallock and Gembrook not only host Grand Finals they also host minor finals.
The YVMDFL should have done better

Gembrook is preferable to the oversized, soulless expanses of the Healesville ground. It also seems to attract good, close matches when the wind stays away. The only venue that would be comparable is Woori Yallock, but as that club is likely to be in the Grand Final, Gembrook is the best choice.

Why would the delegates be alarmed all clubs have the opportunity to tender for the finals not all did, including my club.
Nothing wrong with Gembrook the last time I was involved in a First Division Senior Grand Final there we won.

what are the thoughts of the grounds with new to the league clubs such as Yea and kinglake in Div. 2??

Yea have good facilities with both netball courts on site.
is it a matter of geographic location or just being first year that these clubs did not get any finals???

That's true, Upwey Fan. We all have favourite grounds, and the Board has to balance quite a few things. Healesville is not the most spectator friendly place, but it is ideal for the league because of parking and control and being able to host its guests. But it doesn't have netball courts.
Gembrook is a little more crowded, the entertaining facilities are a little tired, but it is good for spectators, apart from the wind.
The Board also has to entice clubs to tender. A few problems with this as some clubs will never get finals (Upwey, Belgrave, Powelly, Wandin, Mt Evelyn, etc. Sharing is a good idea. Geelong & Districts FL have a rotation system where the Board selects the grounds, pay the clubs for the use of them, then split tenders between their other clubs for marshalling, catering, drinks booths, etc. Over a cycle of 3 years, all clubs get to be involved and share the workload as well as profits. The finals belong to all clubs, not just the Board or a few clubs with suitable facilities. Works well.

That sounds like a great idea Monnie. Share it around and give less well-equiped clubs the chance to earn some extra $$ to improve their facilities. Everyone would benefit rather than the rich get richer and the poor miss out system.

Central Goulburn F.L used to rotate its final series amongst all of its clubs thus every 2 years every club was garunteed to host a final match, albeit the Grand Final was always allocated to a club with suitable ground / netball spectator facilities etc. also rotated was the league Football Netball vote count and presentation nights, this was an incentive for clubs to showcase and make some $$$$$

The problem is the wind never stays away. At least Gembrook is central to all teams. Healsville, Woori YJ ALEX and Warb are all far superier grounds for finals.

Its not just the wind factor, its the bloody holes in the ground its the way no player can predict which way the ball bounces. the ground is in need for extreme improvement.
