Today on TV they said Chris Judd was the 13th youngest player to be captain of an AFL/VFL team. Does anyone know who the youngest was?

Yep he was captain today, was captain against Essendon and will probably be captain again next week as well.

so winner last week, loser today!!

Youngest appointed captain was David Dench who was appointed North's skipper in 1972, aged 20 and a few months.

Very possible some players have been match-day captains (to fill in for injured leaders) at a younger age though.

Would make a good quiz question actually because no one knew who it was!

Was naming Judd captain the Eagles attempt at trying to keep Judd in Perth rather than losing him to Melbourne?

Please, he is vice captain so its natural he would be named captain while Ben Cousins is injured. He will go back to being vice captain when Cuz returns.

Why not Kerr, Fletcher, Morrison or even Wirrapunda?

I would of thought Kerr would be a fair way ahead of Judd in the leadership stakes, but then again there isn't much threat of losing Kerr to a Melbourne team.

I think Fletcher is a deputy-vice captain, but the other guys you named arent even in the leadership group.
Judd and Rowan Jones were the only vice captains on the field, and with jones not in good form it goes to Judd.

Obviously the eagles rank judd as a better leader around the club than kerr and kerr doesnt even rank in the leadership group of about 10 guys, though he did comment he felt the need to lift in the essendon game with cousins out

You obviously don't watch much of the Eagles. None of those guys are leaders except maybe Kerr (onfield) but is a poor off-field leader. Embley or Gardiner may have got in before Judd but they are both out injured as well.

So why not Kerr then?
If it is only for a part time replacement for a few weeks then it makes more sense for the team to make Kerr captain rather than Judd.
This moves reeks of desperation from the eagles.

youngest ever captain was B. Prausley for Melbourne in 1898 at the age of 17

That'd be a great get, except it's complete bollox as there is no record of a B.Prausley ever playing VFL/AFL for Melbourne or any other club.

Don't you listen??
I will say this slowly ..... Kerr is not a vice-captain so was not
elevated to captain in the absence of Ben.

Have you got that now ?
Is that too difficult to understand
