What do you reckon is the youngest starting side(22) ever based on average age. Anyone have the stats? Or what is the youngest list ever for a season?

All I know is Hawthorn have the youngest list this season with the youngest current player and had the youngest premiership team last year.
With Croad out and Shiels in for the last two games, the Hawks should have been pretty young.

Actually Melbourne have the youngest list found in the AFL prospectus. I think Carlton have youngest player with J.Watts second youngest.
When afl.allthestats.com comes back, it's on there.
Hawks 08 youngest premier since Essendon 93, and from what I can tell are 2nd overall.
Hawks rd.2 (v Sydney) youngest on-field side this year.
Hawks 06 and 07 youngest Squads (overall, and on-field).
We were the youngest 09 squad in one format - can't remember if it was either with or without rookies included.
Shiels youngest player drafted last year, qualified by 7 days IIRC - by default would make him youngest to have played. Carlton might have a rookie?

Raises a few questions. What happened to Carlton in 2007? They dropped the equivalent of 4 senior players replaced by rookies in rd.19, another in rd.21 and 3 more in Rd.22. Who did they play in rd.22? (looks it up)...oh...the 'Kreuzer' Cup.
Hawthorn this year is tracking along a similar age drop to Geelong in 2004, though are now heading back into "contending" age range (24+)
Average age has dropped by nearly 2 years in the last five. From historical perspective, Geelong and St.Kilda borderline whether they are too old to compete, Bulldogs and Swans allready too old. Perhaps clubs went too far in the search for youth, and are now beginning to address the issue and rebalance their lists?

Essendon's youngest was 22.9 v Hawks was 24.0 - their oldest until last week.
Richmond also hit 22.8 last week, missed that first time around.
