This time last year we were 13-1. We have gone 8-13 since and got embarrassed in the GF. Last year the coach couldn’t correct the slow starts and was lucky our top end players were able to rescue us. We have many of them missing or so out of form there is no rescuing! Too many players signed big long contract extensions and are now too comfortable. Longmire should have gone sooner. Soft cap is a debacle. Cox untried getting 4 years is a bad decision. Harley off now. I am not optimistic!

I have both hopes and expectations.

Expectations:
1) Cox will prove to be a competent head coach leading the team to finals.
2) Our pressure/contested side will become more consistent.
3) We will maintain crowd attendance within 5% of 2024. That's more important than membership.

Hopes:
1) Top 4.
2) Warner extends.
3) We improve our midfield and forward setups.
4) Edwards takes the next step and allows McCartin to play forward or interceptor.
5) Macca does a terrific job with the reserves so we get real performance and development.
6) Somehow we find a way to get an expert midfield coach over the Xmas break.
7) The fringe (not development) players put real pressure on the selection committee.

My biggest hope is that I will be proud of our team's effort every game, win, lose or draw.
Well here we are at the bye and I'm not doing too well.
Expectations:
The jury is out on Cox and finals looks unlikely.
Pressure side is worse not better.
Crowd nos?
Hopes:
No

Injuries mucked that up.
Finally, too many games my team's effort has left me depressed.
My remaining hope is that things improve.

Should be about beating teams around us and finishing the season strong.

Made my thoughts known about Cox in numerous threads he is very upfront few concerning things he may not be coping that well looked like he was not involved in anything today on the bench.

I think he's had some opportunity too, but if the window has shut then that's a flaw with our coaches.

Half a season in 2023 with a team he played a big part in fixing up by providing forward structure and was reasonably prolific (22.13 in 8 games). Injury impacted 2024. Then just under half a year with the rabble we have now, where in recent weeks he's been better and had more impact than his scoreline suggests.
He was the form forward of the WAFL when he got drafted in 2023, however he carried a calf injury into the mid-season draft, he then looked a class above the VFL team when he arrived.

In 2024, he had significant back surgery for an issue that by all reports, he had to get his own second medical opinion on, because the club doctor had said it would recover with rehab.

In 2025, he finally completes a full pre-season, however, injures his shoulder a few weeks out from the beginning of the season, and then has had to put up with the worst skilled team in the VFL shanking their deliveries to him. Meanwhile the AFL team, which was crying out for a contested full forward, has been playing every other defender/combination under the sun.

I can't imagine that does much for your confidence and adds more pressure to every limited shot on goal that he gets. It will be an absolute shame if he never gets another look at the 1's, because his final year of his contract coincided with Cox trying to save his own career, rather than exploring his list in a year when Sydney are miles off another premiership, let alone finals.
