It seems like a few of us regular posters are also regular players as well. I thought I'd start a thread to discuss your games, teams games or bitch about how bad local refs are.

I'll start on the grand note of my last match.

Three minutes in I'm 3-4 for 6 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks and we're up 8 in the Grand Final......Drive right, defender pops his leg infront and gets called for a foul, my lateral meniscus tears.

I watch us loose fron the bench in a game where nothing went our way.

Nothing I hate more than being the best team for the year and loosing, but what do ya' do.

Okay, I'm 15 so play both one game of junior basketball and then two games of senior basketball a week. The seasons are half-yearly and just a week ago we won the junior grand final and a week before that I lost one grand final in the seniors, but in the other I played my best game of the year, scoring the first 9 points of the match as well as 14 of the team's 20 to half-time, to win the mvp and winning the grand final (I also received my first ever tech foul and was fouled out with a few minutes to go haha).

I play every position on the floor. In juniors as a center, in one of the men's teams as a shooting guard/small forward/power forward and in the other senior team as the point guard. Of all positions I prefer being a rebounding point guard. It's fun to mix it up and be challenged in different ways though.

Strengths; Ability to get to the basket and finish off the dribble, rebounding, playmaking, speed and all areas of defense
Weaknesses; I can't shoot a jumper. Just can't. Absolutely horrid from beyond about five-feet. Very, very ugly. Something I'm really working on right now.

i gave up a long time ago. too short to play. and i was sick of:

1. ticky touch fouls
2. not playing much (better players on the team)
3. guys thinking they were afro-americans. i mean, you're white, be proud! why go the head bands, elbow and wrist bands, talk like "yo man, where you at? whatchya got? play some DEE-fence".
4. my general lack of skills

decided to go back to soccer. at least there i can kick people.

The first was U14s, and we got owned by a puny ranga who caught fire from beyond the arc. And then in U16s, the best shooter I've ever played with bricked 2 FTs with no time left on the clock and we lost the game by a point. Brutal.

more physical in the vic leagues (especially the lower lower lower division im in!). no divers there cause there'd be a riot.

Oh, and WALL-E: In juniors, I was on two teams that managed to lose the grand final after losing maybe 1 game all season. The first was U14s, and we got owned by a puny ranga who caught fire from beyond the arc. And then in U16s, the best shooter I've ever played with bricked 2 FTs with no time left on the clock and we lost the game by a point. Brutal.

We went through one season undefeated, with a percentage of roughly 300%. Wont the first final to send us straight to the GF against the team who was clearly second best. We dropped 21 three’s that game, bumped them by 40 odd. Anyway they went on and played the winner of third and forth.

Turns out the team who finished forth, and we anally r*ped in the year, won. That’s fine. Anyway, we know all the boys in this team as well, as we all go to school with them. They have one ok player, who went on to get drafted by the Bombers and do shit all, but that’s besides the point, or maybe I was just trying to point out he was an athlete…. Anyway.

We have quite honestly the WORST game ever, playing away for the GF…why I don’t know. I foul out stupidly and a team that averaged 13 three’s and probably 67 points for, hit 1 three and scored 24 to be done by 3, by a pack of shit *****. Still to this day, I don’t know how.

What’s worse is we then had to listen to their shit at school……but we egged their house and that was ok.

But on the reverse, we were to 2nd club team at our club, but both our top 2 teams played in A grade. We’d been #2 for ages, and it wasn’t really a 1st footy type format, more we’re both happy with our squads. Anyway, we’re both having pretty good years and we have our showdown. 1 v 2, both play different styles (we’re Pheonix, shoot, run, repeat).

The final score (in a league that averages about 30 per team per game) was 93-79 in the best display of underage offense I’ve ever seen. Noone could miss, especially us in the first half where we totalled 59 odd points.

I miss junior ball, better reffing, coaches, fun.

We had 6 players. One of our blokes had made 3 consective TO's. We decided to sub him and he subbed out alright......kept walking right out of the building.

Kids bring LULZ.


We also had a bloke (he wasn't the full quid) he would jack up 3's from 10 feet behind the arc. The action was worse than Chuck Hayes and every time it was an airball. Talk about an offensive black hole, we couldn't even pass to this dude in the backcourt, because he would let it fly from there.

The only tech i ever got was in warrnambool when i was at UNi
i played with a few local boys in a B grade comp. I remember one final when our best shooter was having his head smacked into the court behind the play by the opposing SG.

i promply pushed the aggresor of him and then i got sent off...I never forget that rubbish umpiring effort. the pricks wont that year as well oh well...

Does anyone they still have the annual warrnambool comp each year ??

We are 6-1 with our only loss being a 3 point defeat after leading by 10.

Last couple of games have been close, winning by 5 and 6 respectively. Last match I got 2 steals and 2 assists in the final minute to seal the deal. Most of the time I impact a game it is defensively, pretty useless on the other end except for making unnecessary no-look passes, or the occasional spot up shot or o board and follow. Don't mind the old Rondo floater, not sure it looks as pretty in reality as it does in my mind though. If my handle was that of a guard and not of an 8 footer, I'd be a solid player, but it ain't.

I am an undersized centre. I am only 6'2 but rarely out rebounded, good for about 10 points a game, I feel better with the ballin my hand looking for a pass at the top of the key, if only I could move with the ball better!

We lost by 2 points from an offensive putback from a missed FT with 4 seconds left.

We have two bigs that are >6'5" and your man V15 standing all of 6 foot nothing would have out-rebounded both of them. Instead of trying to grab the ball, they swat at it, and when they do grab it, they only look one way for an outlet pass, before shitting their pants. So ****ing annoying.

It's just frustrating man. They might as well just get the **** out of the way and let us do it, because they don't bother to box out either. So draining to play some decent D, get a guy to put up and shit shot, then watch our bigs bat it about for a little while until one of their guys just grabs it and puts it back in.

lol. Had a fun moment in a group assignment once where I went on a 5 minute rant about the crumminess of Sunshine, only to have the guy I was working with inform me that he was, in fact, a resident of Sunshine. Tad awkward.
