What have you folk got against keys? Keys add power and atmosphere, and some of the worlds most amazing and heaviest bands have permanent keysmen/women. The following bands have them: Rush, Opeth, SYL, Soilwork, Cradle of Filth, Deep Purple, Dream Theater, Nightwish etc etc....

I dont like keys in my death metal, because they tend to undermine the brutality of the song and tend to give it a more melodious (read: tame) sound. It also kind of adds to the fruitiness factor (Children of Bodom, anyone?)

Yeah, my friend saw em with Nile. He too said CoB were great live, although Nile kinda sucked hard :/

Hehe. I used to be huge on MDM, but I grew away from it. I still like some melodic stuff, like Soilwork's The Chainheart Machine. But Heartwork-era Carcass has always been and will probably always be my fav MDM band \m/
