Your favourite bench player

Fantasy wise, I'd love it if Al Harrington were on the bench much less.

But to answer your question, it's gotta be Earl Boykins or Mark Madsen.

Antonio Daniels for his hustle and Flip Murray for the knack of doing something spectacular, even if he hasn't been able to recature his early season form.

For me it would have to be Bobby Jackson. Antawn Jamison starts on the bench a bit too, he would be a good candidate.

You can say that again, once Allen has came back into the lineup, his been quiet. Which I suppose was expected.....

He's a victim of his own anomosity, really.

Very talented, but after the start he had people seem to forget the kid only played 40 odd minutes in his rookie year, so for him to keep up his play once opposition teams knew what he was capable of was probably a tough ask.

Still, anyone with a true ability to score will find a place somewhere in the league, I still like what I see from him.

Flip's trade value should be tested... package him with any one of our three overpaid centers (take a pick, really).

does that count favourite players who are now bench players?
(kenny anderson, penny hardaway etc)..

wouldnt say he's my fav. bench player..
but how about bloody jon barry...

the ultimate team bench player?
leader of sacramento's 'bench mob'...
leader of the pistons 'alternatorz'...
now doing the same for the nuggets...

The horse has bolted.

Flip has been shown up as a one-trick pony, no team is going to go out of their way to trade for a guy who scores, but does little else.

He is a poor mans Allan Houston.

Has to be Shane Battier.

Would be starting for most ball clubs, yet happily accepted his 6th man role.

Earl Boykins and Darrell Armstrong are next.

I disagree. He's young, is only in his first NBA season where he has actually gotten on the floor, and has a lot to learn. A team will take a chance on him and look to develop him before a team writes him off.

That said, I'd more more than happy if he's still in Seattle by the end of the year.

how long does Houston have on his contract? isn't it like 5 or 6 yrs?

...that has to be one of the worst decisions ever by the Knicks, giving him that contract

It was a 6 year deal.

He has 3 more years after this one left on the contract.

Liked this quote from Houston last year, attempting to justify his deal:

"What a lot of (the fans) don't understand, that when you're in your eighth or ninth year, the contract that you receive is more of a reward. The team doesn't expect you to become a whole different player. You get it because you have earned it by doing things you've done. They don't pay you for the future. They pay you for what you've done and what you consistently bring."

On the one-trick pony thing, the horse has bolted thing, or both?

Both, I just feel it's a tad premature to write him off. A poor man's Allan Houston is a bit harsh - Flip has shown an ability to dish, rebound and get to the hole and finish. His composure and shot selection just need to be refined, which come with experience.

There are many teams in the NBA who are screaming for someone with Flip's penchant for instant offense, pretty much every Eastern Conference team, and also the likes of Utah. If anything, he's a poor man's Rip Hamilton, with a ceiling of a rich man's Rip Hamilton.

I didn't exactly write him off, just said that he wasn't tradeable and is a tad one-dimensional.

Not lately he hasn't.

Racked up plenty of '6 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 steals, 0 blocks' of late.

Don't doubt his ability to score, but i do doubt his ability to contribute in other areas. Right now he scores and does nothing else, if you're going to be that type, you need to be consistent, something Ron isn't.

If that's the case, why aren't said teams beating down Seattle's door to get to him?

If he was in that much demand, Seattle would have traded him long ago.

When Ray and Antonio were injured, Flip was putting up consistent 5 rebound/5 assist statlines. Now that they are both back and Flip is on the pine, his job in the second unit is to provide the offense. I don't doubt his abilities to contribute in other areas because I've seen exactly what he's capable of, but at the moment he is used as a primary scorer, generally playing with AD or Ray who handle the rock.

However you are right, his trade value would have diminished quite a bit from the early season. I'm still confident there are teams that would be interested, and who knows what goes on behind closed doors.

Does Olden Polynice still count? Favourite player of all time.

Of (somewhat) prominent current players, I'll go for Rodney Rogers and Chris Andersen.

Four times this season he's gone 5 and 5, not exactly regular.

Over the past 10 games, he has averaged 1.1 rpg and 1.3apg. I don't care what your role, that is ordinary.
