When we played Freo at Docklands amid an air of doom and gloom. Some were predicting a sub-15,000 crowd and questioning the very existence of the club. Fair play to the masochist Doggy supporters, nearly 19,000 turned up to watch an average Freo side decimate us, as their forwards and mids galloped through a very porous backline to score at will in the 4th quarter.
Pretty sure they finished 5th that year and made finals for the first time in their history, they weren't too bad.

Pretty sure that was mothers day also

Mother's Day massacre. 83 points. I was there that Sunday. Probably the lowest point I ever felt as a Doggie fan, including losing the '97 prelim!

I knew we were shit, but we copped a heap of injuries early that season and just put the queue in the rack. Grant and Bandy IIRC were our biggest outs at that time. So many Doggies fans melted on 3AW after the game though, was hideous to listen to driving home.

If there was anything good about that awful 2003 season, it was Lake, Cross and Boyd being given about 10 games each, then they were regulars from 2004 onwards IIRC.

I don't think there has been a game where I was shaking so much a good half hour after it ended. Vividly remember finishing work (during my apprenticeship) & getting home in time for the last quarter, living in WA back then it was very rare to be able to watch a dogs game live.

After the game my mum gave me a beer to calm me down :p from memory we were about 30-40pts down at one point? Or was that Johnno's 300th? Or both lol

We were 38 down early in the last, I remember distinctly because my sister wanted to leave and have used this match to justify to her that we should stay at sporting events that seem decided ever since.

In Johnno's 300th I don't think we were down that much it was just that he kicked the last three goals in a row to win.

Wasn't that one of the better games of our 'next Andrew McCloud'? Lol
I dunno why Faulkner and years later in Stack never made it.

Both had the talent imo, were they soft, lacked ambition etc though?

You're right mate. We dropped a bollock after Granty went down early last qtr of the round 1 win against the Cats. I think we lost the next 8.

Yeah, we drew against WCE at Subi :$

We stuffed that up at the end, went long down the line, lost the 50-50 at half back, Sampi in space in the pocket marked, kicked the goal to draw on the siren IIRC.

Probably the greatest game Nathan Brown ever played though, he kicked 7 and we should've won with him should've being the matchwinner.

I remember mate, we were bloody 13 points up with about 2mins30 left and still stuffed it up! Lol

Good old Judas kicked a few bags for us last round 2002, Wallace quits, Rohde's first game in charge. Collingwood at the G. We win by 41 or 42, Brown kicks 7. I told my mate, a mad Pie fan that they would beat Port in the qualifying final the following week, I was right! The start of the Port 'choke!'

You are all sick bastards for having anything to do with this thread. If I see one more person post in it and drag it back to the top of my page I will hunt you down and make you watch reruns of these games until your eyes bleed. Enough is enough.

Agree. Stop bumping the thread.

Yes, lost 144-137. Crazy shootout. Umpires missed a free to Djeukerra when we were 1 down in the last minute if I remember correctly.
We didn't have Djerrkura until 2011, so I don't think you are remembering quite correctly :p
