Hi All in my works monthly news letter, last month the boss ( bloody Carlton Supporter) decided to put an article about our draw for the last 2 years how we only traveled four times have played teams coming off interstate trips all the normal crap a jealous Carlton supporter would think.

Anyway was just wondering if i could get some ideas from you guys for the next news letter which comes out next week, i have until Friday any ideas would be appreciated.

Cheers GO PIES!!!!:D

Just write about how we don't sell home games, every team requests to verse us at the MCG and how much harder Collingwood's draw was last year in comparisons to this years given the ladder position of their opponents.

PS. Our draw is not that dis similar to Carlton's its just that they get more Etihad games.

Point out our fantastic away record and we would be happy to play more games interstate. We have even won a final or two outside of Victoria. Unlike the Blues who can't even manage to win a final.

Just point out that at the moment it's a bit of a yawn being a Collingwood supporter just having to worry about what our winning margin will be each week and counting down the days to another Premiership.

Here are some stats to throw at him...

Last 20 games 19-1 (Carlton 14-1-5)
Last 50 games 40-8-2 (carlton are 29-1-20)
Last 35 games 31-2-2 equals a record set in 1951 by Essendon. Carlton's best is 30 set back in 1908 !!!

1044 best difference between for and against EVER in the history on the VFL/AFL after 19 matches. Beats 1012 set by Essendon in 2000.

182.79% best % EVER in the history of the VFL/AFL after 19 completed matches of a H&A season

Last 5 games - Collingwood 5 Carlton 0

Most of these stats are "live" and could change but the streaks are getting longer and with a little luck and some good play, Collingwood is set to create records that no team has ever achieved in the history of the game

carlton travel one less time than us this year, have more Friday night games than us and have a bye close to the finals while we have 4 interstate trips in the last 10 weeks. Oh yeah, we've owned them on the last 5 occasions we've met :thumbsu:
They also are a massive chance to go through a decade without a finals win.

Write it on Carlton's last finals win if you were born that long ago.

call it opening the vault - a look back in time

make references to zoning (carlton given the best zone bendigo by former a carlton pres ken luke) no longer available and that recruiting ability and not cash is the only way to grow now - the filth have never done the hard yards and hence dont know how to.

Ask why Carlton gets 600K on an annual basis from the Annual Special Distribution Fund based on their poor Stadium Deal done with Docklands which their ex president set up prior to his appointment as CEO for Docklands.
Basically rewarding the club for making a stupid decision based on the self interest of an ex president.

1) We wear Black & White and they are sometimes wear Navy Blue.
2 ) Carlton are reknown to be the biggest salary cap cheats of all time.
3 ) We have 70k plus members.
4 ) We beat Hawthorn this year and Carlton haven't beaten them since 2005
5 ) We have the double chance all sown up, they are fighting to hold onto 4th spot

I'd simply agree with him.

We've had an easy ride. We're top of the ladder. What's his point?

To be honest my dear gero, I'd ask him to write some more articles on Collingwood. He's exhausted just about all the negative stuff already.

Tell him it will only increase his audience.:thumbsu:

Just agree with him and tell him that we have the easiest draw in the afl because we havent won against a team higher than us on the ladder.

You could write about the ironic success of the Carlton Football Club.
The 'Liberal Party' Football club often bleat about football socialism which has stifled their ability to buy premierships in the era of the draft.

The Carlton Football Club was a minnow in the 1960's until the VFL decided they needed something to curb the 3 powerhouses in Collingwood, Melbourne and Essendon. What they came up with was a socialist plan called zoning.

And hey Bingo, who got the powerhouse country zone of the Bendigo district- Carlton. It won them several premierships and gave their once modest band of supporters the distinction of a photographic entry in the dictionary under the word,'arrogance'.

That's why bleatings of football socialism coming from Carlton fans in this era of the draft are duly ironic.

Write an article that tells your boss that in his whole AFL career , Luke Ball has never had to walk off a ground having to hear the , da da da da da Carlton theme song blaring out around the ground.

As Luke Ball is yet to taste defeat , when his team has played Carlton.

14 straight wins

Tell him this regarding our supposedly soft 2010 draw:

Q. The four top sides from 2009 were Geelong, St.Kilda, Bulldogs and us. For the home and away 2010 season, which of the four sides was the only one to have to play six games against the other top three from 2009 ?

Answer: Collingwood

Tap this Gero, a fair bit of stuff on our away record, and that it really means **** all when you drill down. When you're a good team (remember that Blues) you win anywhere.

http://www.nickmaxwell.com.au/2011/05/15/if-pain-persists-see-your-doctor/

As has already been stated, ask who had tougher draw in 2010 re hard teams played twice (also included in above).

Ask if there might be an advantage also having your best player almost excised from the salary cap and Additional Services Agreement.

As a late flourish, state that even supposing we had an extra away game, our w/l record of @75% means that we give away one loss on that extra game every 4 years. Grant him that extra game, that's philanthropy!

I dont even understand the question....

Something about how we dont travel much? Well of course we dont because the AFL want us to make a heap of cash playing at the MCG!!. Thats the reason. We are the piggy bank for the losers of the league.

As for Carlton complaining about us getting an advantage, well geeezzzzzz.... maybe the blue boys shouldnt overpay their players like they did in the 1990s... and maybe they shouldnt annoint presidents of their club when these presidents are known the break the companies law and collude with other companies.

And anyway, Carlton is well known to doing anything legal or illegal to win premierships....everyone knows that.

Worse, he was Docklands CEO (and Carlton president) at the time the deal was finalised.

You could point out that we love Ian Collins down at Collingwood: i.e. because of him Carlton no longer have the Geelong style of dream draw - with 8-9 Princes park games (genuine HGA), another 8-9 at the MCG or Docklands (neutral venue when playing Vic teams and HGA otherwise) and around 5 interstate games (genuine disadvantage). Sometimes there's a lot to be said for massive self-interest.
