Hopefully Monday's announcements say we can get back out there on the course

Im in a online chat with a bunch of golf mates from all over the country and they’re all saying that theyve been given the go ahead to play in fours again. A tad depressing.

The issue is if Dicky Dan eases restrictions, anti labor people will say "he caved in hahaha what a soft ****"
I’ve only been criticising Pollies for taking away our freedoms. Like Dutton being a campaigner and trying to force NRL players to take a flu vaccine which they admit isn’t guaranteed to stop the flu.

Yep, I saw some AFL media on twitter complaining that the AFL have taken the opposite approach too. What is wrong with people?

I wouldn’t be pissed if maximum group sizes went to 3 on a golf course. I’m enjoying playing in groups of two at the moment and getting around in two hours. I walk but cart hire has been reduced by a measly $5 to $25.
On another note, my home course was shut for a month and reopened on Tuesday 20th April. Social golf was $5 for members and increased to $15. Comps start again tomorrow and we’re only allowed to play in groups of 2. They want us to download an app and then they want an extra $2 to play comp with **** all prizes. Meanwhile the other big golf course in the city, Toowoomba Golf Club, never closed and members are playing socially still for free.

Are the players not willing to have the vaccine "anti vaccers"?

i have no problem with your stance during this pandemic. I dont agree, but agree to a degree on your various points made. This pandemic has taught us things, and we're seeing people in USA protesting. Perhaps this pandemic is the trigger that could wake the governments up regarding our (the people who elect them) rights.

I have many friends and associates who are angry about a lack of golf, but wont go and play (they can get on if they want to). Told them they should stick it to man!

97% are willing to be vaccinated. Approximately 10 players are refusing and the NRL has backed down on forcing them to. However, one of the proposals by the NRL to the different State governments was for all players to have the flu vacc. My understanding is any player/s that are stood down will have to be paid. Their contracts don’t specify receiving a mandatory vaccination.

Didn’t know the nrl backed down. Weak. If they’re fair dinkum stand by your word. Oh well at least they’ll be back playing soon.

Lucky. My club has said they'll wait a few days after the announcement just to be conservative that everything is in place for golfers to return
i am not holding my breath however.
i think what your club is doing isnt a bad idea.
No word from The National yet either.

One thing that Covid has me feeling currently is stop waiting and do things. I really want to join my local private club when I restrictions ease.

I know some of you don't rate my local course (Riversdale)...but I mow lawns in the morning...and it is 2 minutes away and I will be reluctant to travel after work. I will definitely use short game/range facilities and quick 9 holes regularly mid week.

I was hoping there would be some "Covid type" deals to attract new members, pretty sure these places will be taking a huge financial hit...but no such luck.

Main thing that worries me in the short term is that if they allow groups of 2, ten minutes apart. That's 12 per hour...probably 100 golfers per day over Winter, and there is going to be everyone trying to get a hit after this. It is a hell of a lot to pay (in my 50s) to not be able to play and get my money worth....Do I sit and wait or go for it?
