I myself dont mind people marking their ball(s). whatever works, and it personalises the ball in case it becomes lost and for identification.

seen some balls that have lines, dots and other shapes all over it. I wonder how the hell they line it up!
Personally i dont see much difference in balls having lines on them...to help with allignment..to putters with two balls (which i use) and all sorts of allignment lines on them.

If its a time thing.. I guess its up to the player not to be wasting time..and i understand that yes it will slow some up. But maybe it is offset by less shots. I know there is a bit of momentum gaining to stop pros using them.

I know it has helped me heaps. And as I age it is one part of the game that has improved and helped me keep enjoying the game.

Great point about ball identification too.

i dont see ball marking something that will slow play down
It should speed play up really in helping identify balls, avoid the infuriating habit of people playing wrong ball etc which is very time costly.

absolutely. and in matchplay, medal rounds, club champs it is incumbent on the player to be able to identify their own ball

I hate putting with a line, I like to adjust my putt when i'm standing over it. It just feels like it's 1 more thing you can get wrong. I sometimes use the callaway balls with the lines already on them. I can't have them on the top when im putting or it puts me off

im here and or sometimes there about lines. i generally rotate the ball so that i cant see anything. if possible. each to their own

Personally I find it gives a lot of good feedback and helps you know if you are striking the ball well on the putter face.

Not a lot more better feeling in golf when you pick a line...set the line up in that direction. Then just think distance as PN said. Hit it and see it go perfectly end over end....and the line tells you that. Takes the break that you chose and drops. Awesome.

As buttsauce says..sometimes you stand over it and it does feel wrong. Then you have a decision. Do occasionally go with that gut feeling and hit on a slightly different line...but not often.

I was watching a clip from Phil Mickelson and he uses them 3 different ways. Absolutely loves them for the 5 foot and closer. Cannot remember how for medium and does not use them at all for long putts.

Too slow? If he can drop from 3 to 2 putts per hole...and was lining up when others were doing their thing I think it is quicker...or you don't like the ethics of it? Just interested in your thoughts.
- Another thing copied from the US Tour that drives slow play (fast greens is another)
- No one lines their ball up whilst someone else is putting
- It won't help him at all

I can sort of understand it on short putts but for long putts the biggest miss is always going to be on distance rather than line

38 points from the back tees including two complete shemozzle holes.

I have somehow lost my fade and now hit most if not all shots with a small draw.

I haven’t changed a thing, but it like it.

I like the line on my ball. It helps me get into a routine and gives me confidence*

*Confidence to 3 putt.
Surely the name on of the ball serves the same purpose

Played Albert Park today. I was scathing of its condition when I played it last...but the good rains during Feb and on wards have helped the Kikuyu come back and it was in very good nic considering how wet some tracks are. Not a bad option for those playing the boggy clay based publics atm.

I was 8 over after 4...all caused by terrible chipping, but managed to get everything on track and finished 13 over..85. 33 putts (not great but my chipping was not good and put pressure on this). Driving was good..hit 9 fairways with only a couple of really bad ones.

Lots of very poor players out there today in regards to etiquette . The amount of times I had to putt or drive with peoples moving shadows distracting me 🤦‍♂️ lol.

Bloke in group in front stood on the side of the green for close to 3 minutes on his phone after finishing the hole. The young fella I was with...and to be fair it was possibly his first game..had no idea all day long where his ball finished. Just kept looking away after his shot. Haha. They were really nice people though I must say.

Anyone affected by the postcode quarantine restriction lockdown thingo?

At the club i frequent have been informed if you are from any of those postcodes, GFTO
Think that’s every club they can’t play at the poor buggers. They can’t leave their postcodes and their own courses are closed.

i imagine clubs that arent within the no go zone are contacting all of their members who reside in those areas

Yeah pretty sure they just email
All members. Meanwhile courses like Northern, Medway, Craigieburn and Riverside are closed.

Yesterday I started birdie, birdie and thought... it’s all downhill from here!
And it was! Scored 34 points.

Have been scoring low 90s the last few weeks and am yet to crack 90. Game is getting better and better and I owe it to going to the driving range 2-3 times a week. Played Waterford valley today and walked up the the 16th tee on 75. Ended up with 93. Double bogey, bogey, quadruple bogey on the last  . Felt like joining the two balls I hit into the lake on the last for a swim after I sunk my final putt. Ah well next time!

One day it will probably all come together and the first time breaking 90 will be closer to mid 80's
